Rise of the Scourge

I've always wanted to have an AoS to call my own, and after finding a fully terrained map that an author was willing to give away I discovered that possibility. Because there are quite a number of generic AoSs, I'd like to present a few features that will (hopefully) make my AoS feel original while still retaining the fun of the AoS genre. Features: First of all, there will side quests, which can trigger events such as a temporary unique spawn for your team, or a temporary global bonus (such as increased damage). Next, abilities won't cost mana. Heroes will instead have a certain number of actions points (I'm thinking on 10), and those will be used to cast their abilities instead. Standard abilities will cost 1 AP, and ultimate abilities will cost 3 APs. Heroes have a maximum of 10 actions points, and will regerate one action point every 5 seconds. Cosmetically, action points and mana are the same thing. The cooldown on abilities is also much lower than the standard. I'm hoping that will make the gameplay more fun than sitting around waiting for abilities to cool down. The name is actually a placeholder. Admittedly, I just made this name as I was creating the thread. I feel the gameplay of 5v5 is much more intimate and teamwork focused than that of 6v6. If there was enough of a demand of 6v6, then I'd probably switch over. Progress: Development wise, the map was started just over a week ago. Misc: I'd also like to present a few screenshots which (I think) look good. They're attached to the thread. Lol I remember the terrain and putting guard towers exactly on those spots :P How do heroes gain action points? I can't really comment further on your map, seems to lack too much info regarding game itself (beside that small paragraph). |

Maybe I was too vague on actions points. Heroes have a maximum of 10, and will regenerate one every 5 seconds. Cosmetically, action points and mana are the same thing. It's probably worth mentioning that intelligence won't increase your maximum amount of action points. The reason for the description being so short is that I've just started development, so there isn't much to reveal. |

I like the way you type. AoS's are fun. jigrael's Deadeye is an amazing model. ... Profit! I await further stuff with enthusiasm. I'm no critiquer, so I can't help you there. :P |

Since action points lower the usefulness of intelligence (since it will no longer increase your maximum mana), I'm in a bit of a problem. I can do one of the following (or anything else that is recommended): 1.Make mana increase action point regeneration rate. 2. Have intel-based heroe's spell damage be reflected by their intelligence. 3. Both 1 and 2, but to a lesser degree. What do you guys think? |
