You know how you can go 2 deep, but when you wanna go 1 more deep it won't connect the the other 2, is there a way to change this?

hi

This is what can be done in the normal WE without changing MPQ files and stuff :

When editing the mpq file u can get this :

But i dont think more than 2 layers of cliffs can fit nice, its 1 or 2 but never 3

Below a PM from heaven to me relating max. height

How high is it possible, could i make it from verly low ( water level) to really high, and would it still be multiplayable

I was gonna' try making an extreme height difference map next as a test bed.

The defaults are, for reference, -128 to 1500-1700 (can't remember exactly). I managed to get it to go from -2048 to +2048.

In my screenshots on the WE Height Restriction thread I showed 3 levels, -2048 (the foreground floor), +0 (the plains), and +2048 (the background mountains).

What I didn't try (and should have) was to make a mountain coming out of the -2048 floor, and going up to +2048. That would be about 2300 units taller than the tallest mountain could have been with the old defaults, or roughly twice as high. Which is awesome.

I predict no problems with the map over bnet. I mean, it's just a visual change nothing that would affect the game after the map is loaded.

I really want to be sure if the camera behaves normal, could i go twies as high ?

The camera behaves perfectly normal, and follows the slope just like it normally would. You have to be careful with your terrain layout though, since you don't want the player to clip the mountains (ugly) or be unable to see the ground because you've got a +2048 cliff the camera is on top of with a -2048 floor immediately north of it.

+2048
-> camera

.....\
......\.X -2048

You probably wouldn't be able to see X. I have to try it though. I'm not sure.

And if its posible, could u plz give me some additional information overe how u did it

Well, assuming you've edited the ui\miscdata.txt file correctly and have "unlocked" the extra range of height/depth...

All I did was raise/lower the terrain with the terrain tools. I use the plateau tool a lot. For example I'll raise one spot all the way to the top (+204 with the raise tool and then use the plateau tool to spread the +2048 around. Likewise with the depth tool and spreading around the low areas. Then I'll go back and apply the smooth tool and the roughen tool on the peaks. Everything else is just spot application of the raise/lower to tweak the look.

The plateau tool is awesome however. :)

What more do you want to know?

Take care, and your frozen map thingy looks great!

Care.

I know that, I just wanted it to be 3 or more cliffs deep, guess it's impossible unless someone else has a suggestion....
