Altar of Blood

A trollish altar, made by request for Kyrbi0. Still unfinished, though - it lacks a Death animation, and there are probably some stuff I will have to add\remove\change, by what Kyrbi0 says.

Based on Altar of Kings. The first building I created.

The statue is supposed to be Hakkar the Soulflayer, the Blood God of the Gurubashi trolls.

Totally random what I am about to say, but it would be sweet if there were a naga model that looked like that statue does.

Lol, thanks, I guess.

I must say, lookin' loads more awexome than the first WIP. I think the retexture-to-Wood makes a big difference in that.

The statue is much better. The neck is nice. I still feel like the head is missing something "Hakkar"-ish; maybe frills. Not sure.

The pot, IMO, should almost definitely be metal (despite what you claim about rusty metal =! Trolls :P). My brother confirmed that a wooden pot just looks wierd. (also, logs + handles would make it look much more authentic, since it's such a centerpiece).

The bones make it look very nice, too. It appears you just ripped them right off the catapult. :P
I wonder if it wouldn't look better with the bones all scrunched up next to each other... Depends, how many show above the ground?

More later.

(Sorry for the double-post)
So... Should I post updates/modifications in this thread, or in the Request thread? Meh.

Boy, I'm glad I tested this in-game. Check it out:

As you can see, this definitely needs some work (not in a bad way). Aside from the tilting (which can be done at the end, just rotate everything clockwise ~30 degrees or so...), it's much too huge and has loads of empty space. Also, the statue is too small and has too-small parts; mainly the claws and wings are barely showing. Finally the cauldron is too bright; I would suggest just making it metal.

Yeah, the base doesn't need to be circular, necessarily... But something different. Mess with it, but mainly make it smaller and more compact. I put all the other Altars nearby for comparison; they barely have any room between statue and pillars.

Speaking of which the pillars are a smidge too large (maybe), and definitely need something on top. I'm not sure what, though.

The bone-staircase is looking awexome, but needs to be smaller (both length and width). Probably just squish all the bones together and increase the incline of the stairs (thus hiding more of it "underground").

The Portrait and Work anim are great, though. :P

Make the entire structure smaller, and the statue bigger.

Yes, this.

^Yes (and tilting at the end)

In fact, deolrin, you may not even have room for the skulls if it's going to be the same (general) size as the others. Which would be ok. Maybe put those "skulls-on-sticks" (just a few) next to the torches or something.

--EDIT--
Alright, here's a good view of what should happen (although it's pretty clear from what we're saying, I still think a picture speaks a thousand words :P)

I left out the skulls, the spears, and the vines. And though I drew a circle, I don't mean that it must be literally round.

Does anyone have any good ideas about what to top the pillars with? They look very bare, but I can't think of anything cool. Skulls? Fire? A roof?

Make purple flames coming out of them or something when they Stand-Work.

Of the pillars? Just, like, out of the wood? Doesn't make sense.

Also, I think he's really got the Stand Work down; none of the Altars have loads of SFX or anything very flashy, and he's got the tiki torches burning larger (than Stand) and a bubbling cauldron. :P

---
I'm kinda looking for something to cover the tops. In every other Altar, the pillars either come to a point (Undead), or have a Stonehenge-esque slab of stone (NE/Human), or a big firepit (Orc). Right now, the Troll pillars just look bare, like logs laid alongside it.

Well, just saw it (thanks to Linaze, <3). I have to say, I'm very impressed/pleased.

It's really made a huge jump in quality and "fitting-ness". I think the one you put into a Pastebin is just right (minus a few things), statue-wise that is. Of course, it's rather large, but a Scaling Value of .80 fixes that right up.

I think now it just needs the Birth-animation stuff, a moved Portrait (the statue is out of the picture), perhaps switching of the fins (instead of the Myrmidon's "spine spikes", you want to use the fins that come off it's "neck"). Seriously, great stuff, and many thanks. :P

Updated Ingame pictures, added 2 Birth animation pictures.

@Kyrbi0 - Imo spears will be a bit of overkill(skulls, torches, cauldron, statue, vines, detailed bone stairs...), but the fins will be soon changed and death animation added.

Awexome. May I remark again on how Trollish it feels. :P
