The lines all over the texture don´t make much sense, you should see some real wood textures and try to attemp imitating them, there isn´t much more I can tell you about this part. Also the colors are very plain and unrealistic, and I can´t really tell which kind of wood is actually supposed to be exactly. It seems like you used black for shading, which gives a very dull and dirty look. What you need to do is to gradually change from darker tones of brown for the shading, as well as some light brown and orange tones (or even red depending of the kind of wood you´re trying to make) here and there for the lighting, and as a way to get rid of the overall monotony. Hope this helps in some way... |

well, i eyedropped three colours from the ancient protector and tried to somehow recreate it a bit... it was kinda choppy, so i changed the appearance a bit and made these lines (dark brown, no black in there) to have something like bark... okay, i see i failed -.-' |

Well, what you´re trying to do is nothing simple at all, you need to keep practising until you get it right. |

Wood doesn't go in many different directions. It's rare to see curves in a tree's grain. Just use many different colors and go with the grain. up and down, etc. |
