How to make an item cast starfall?

Hi guys, I know this sounds like a newb question but ... I want one of my heroes to cast starfall using an item (starfall is a dummy ability, for a coded ability I have).
Problem is that the spell is channelling, and so the idiot hero stops right after he starts .... and I don't understand why because it seems to work with cloud ability...

How can I do it ? =S

Use another dummy ability (Cloud for example).

I know Tranquility works.. Either weird bug or you're doing something wrong :p

Can't use Cloud because the spell is not area targeted.

My item like this had Tranquility in a spell book.. It doesn't work on its own either.

So, new patch prevents people from having channel spells on items !?
This sucks so bad ! ...

Ahh, I am not on the new patch..

So, correct me if I am wrong, but with patch 1.23 people can NOT have channelling items !?
I guess I have to make an idea for other item ..

It works if the ability is in a spell book :p and I doubt it was 1.23 that bugged this, idk.

Now I am confused... So, in order to make an item cast an ability, the item must be a spellbook !?
Can't I just cast the item normally ? Like a potion or something like that?

I'm just telling you how I had it working.
