Finding it extremely difficult to use the search function properly.

I mean, I can only find what I want about 3% of the time. :(

the 60sec wait is a pain, beause often you need 2-3 trys to find what your looking for =/
you may want to try google with site:wc3c.net
eg searching timerutils: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
somehow easier then using the board search

Yeah I recently stopped using the board search too. It also kinda sucks that there is no simple search button on the forum front page so you always have to go into a sub-forum, scroll down and click on advanced search.

google's "site:wc3c.net" works fine though and usually finds what I'm looking for.

What annoys me the most is that Forum Tools (which has an integrated search form), doesn't show up on chrome.

The only problem I have with the search is that when I'm looking for something like, say, GroupUtils or MPQMaster, I get 100 threads that simply say "GroupUtils" a single time in the entire thread and not the actual thread I want. I think the search should prioritize by title and then date/content.

another problem i have is, that there is no way to find a specific post in a thread with LOTS of posts ....

when you search for the topic you are interested in, the search feature will only give you a link to the first page of that thread (Lots of fun to read 100+ pages duh)

Try checking "show results as Posts". It will show the post the term is used in. Still not really useful if you search for more common terms.

Ah thanks, that helps a lot

There's a lot of options in the advanced search that can really help you well. The search is still retardedly incompetent at times, but most of the times I am able to find exactly what I'm looking for.

Yeah I tend to only ever get the same 4 - 5 threads in every search I try. There should be somewhere in this site a thread linking to the most helpful of threads, maybe a link to something describing each aspect of JASS or GUI etc.

What I mean would be a thread with say indepth discussion about all the functions within JASS and how you can use them, the reason for this is that I have had trouble previously with using the native:
Collapse JASS:
native GroupEnumUnitsOfType takes group whichGroup, string unitname, boolexpr filter returns nothing
After countless searches within google and Wc3c and wc3jass in how to set the:
Collapse JASS:
string unitname
I was given some help on IRC (Sometimes I don't really try there as it's usually inactive in the times I can actually log on because most of you on here are American I think where as I am Australian.)

I do know I kinda trailed a bit off topic here but heh it needed to be said (If it hasn't been said before I do not know, the reason for this is because the search function fails .)

EDIT:

On the bright side, this website still managed to teach me half of what I know when making maps (Well attempting really, because I've never actually finished anything worth playing, but no one ever does on their first time.)

So thanks Vexorian (Sorry if you aren't the owner of this site. :P) for having this lovely forum up for the hundreds of Map makers / Modellers / Terrainers / Triggereerers / Skinners. Also a very friendly community (apart from maybe the 1 out of 5 people who are trolling on purpose on IRC. :P)
