I have heard from somewhere that if an items is removed or destroyed via trigger, Wc3 does not actually destroy the item but simply shrinks it to make it less visable. If this is true does the same apply for tomes and powerups if they bought and used? If so, will spamming tomes make a game lag. |

Yes, i guess it will make the game lag. You can still see the items on the ground in most maps once you use the tomes. You could teleport 'destroyed' items to a particular area, in which you have a unit with an AOE attack that can target items, and then just leave it on attack ground, so all items moved into the area are automatically destroyed by the attack. |

LOL, that is very clever and at the same time quite hilarious. The gods have punished some poor soul to an eternity in a remote corner of the map, forever doomed to destroying an endless stream of items as they appear, while others enjoy the actual bounty of the items. |

When tomes shrink away, they don't stay forever, it's just the death animation of the item. |

you could probably destroy it via triggers anyway. |

I havnt actually tested it, ive just seen a lot of maps where you end up with sparkly bits all over the ground from toming. Dunno if its because of them being triggered or whatever, but it does happen. |

But does destroying the item actually destroy it or simply shrink it? |

The problem is with the model not the item(the effect on the model doesn't have a proper death/decay animation so it stays forever). Having units attack an already removed or to kill an item won't help fix the model effect acting wacky. Just use a new imported model with a fixed death animation if you really want to keep using the book type model for tomes. Theres other easier workarounds like just giving the tome to the hero(avoids the book model as it's only for on the ground not the used sfx that is bad). |

Im actually more concerned with map lag. So if I heard you correctly the mini tome on the floor is merely as Sfx? |

why did this bug begin to occur? did blizz change the way item animations were handled? |

Can't you just remove the item? As in straight up remove it instead of playing a death animation? |

Yes, as me and MindWorx already pointed out. . . Also my bad i figured that just giving tomes to the unit would work apparently it doesn't.(i just played a game and it proved that it doesn't stop the sfx of the small book.) In my honest opinion tomes are just a mess and sort of ruin games unless they are heavily nerfed and even then theres not much point to them. |
