Hi guys. I could really use some help. I have a great map under development and I have been working on it for years now and I´m close to a release. I have been using Word Editor Unlimited and I really love it. But now, in 1.24, I can´t save the map, I got a ton of compile errors regarding the WEU script and I cannot create a game with the new map. WEU crashes if I try to run the map from there. I also cannot just open the map with normal WE because I have used a lot of the WEU features. As far as I understand, the problem is the script used in WEU. It has to be changed somehow. Note: I have not written any jasscode myself. The problem must be WEU. I have read a lot of the posts regarding the new patch but there´s nothing about problems in WEU. Is it just outdated or? I know it has not been updated for very long, so I guess that´s problem. Please help me. I have pm´d and mailed Pitzer Mike, the creater of WEU and moderator in here, but I get no response. |

You can no longer use WEU in 1.24. It's now a completely useless map editor tool. Try NewGen. But it's WEU plugin is also useless in terms of using advanced triggers, so you have no other option but to abandon advanced triggers.... |

Thx for ur reply. If that´s true, then it really sucks. God Damn those idiots who´s making the need for that stupid patch. Are u sure this is the only option for me? |

WEU became outdated years ago. 1.24 just made it a deathblow. Those "Advanced Triggers" were sucky anyways and just added hundreds of useless kb. Kill off the advanced triggers and use JNGP already. |

There will be always be GUI noobs who will use the WEU for advanced triggers. Just because it's GUI, so retards like me still uses it. Well not anymore since it's no longer possible... ![]() |

Retards need to learn to code, I guess. Which is actually a good thing, since it'd *PERHAPS* effect in quality maps. |

The Warcraft 3 modding community wouldn't be a quarter of it's current size if you needed to know how to code. I guess GUI is just good for "retards" like me. |

It would probably have the same amount of quality maps though. |

Using the GUI is coding. You do need to learn to code to do anything. The difference between JASS and GUI is the immediate gratification. You can instantly get something to work in GUI; but in the long term, you end up using the much more inferior tool. If you can learn to use the GUI effectively, you can learn to use JASS effectively. You simply have to put forth more upfront effort in learning it. Of course, you also save countless hours, depending on how much you code for maps, when using JASS compared to GUI. Finally, let me note for all the fucking retards who truly believe the GUI can do anything JASS can: No. It can't. It does not expose all of the underlying JASS API, and it does not provide the full flexibility of the language. Arguing otherwise is what makes you a retard, not the fact that you code in GUI. |

In the right hands, jass code is more effective, granted, but a quality map is perfectly doable using just GUI. |

You could also, in theory, build a fully functioning supercomputer out of a box of paperclips, a car battery, and some chewing gum. Of course, when you have to MacGyver shit half way to hell to make it work in a quality way, you're doing a lot more work than learning a programming language that doesn't involve fancy dialogs that give you every possible option. In short: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. |

People will do what they want. If they don't want to learn to code, they won't. That's freedom of choice for you. |

Back to the topic, WEU sucks shit and has sucked shit for a long time. DON'T USE WEU. |

If only I knew this a week ago:( I just found out that a map which is saved with WEU cannot be opened with the regular WE or any other editor as far as I know. Why is that? Any way to fix it? Edit: Never mind that, i fixed it. I had to delete some WEU specific triggers. |
