The Legions’ Rise

Have you ever looked back upon the world of Azeroth and wondered how something might have gone differently? Imagine if Malfurion hadn’t been awakened but had died to the undead descending upon the Barrow Dens. How would this have changed it all? Now take a step and look at what he did at the Battle of Mount Hyjal without him Archimond would have won.

Now take it a step further… because Archimond has won.

A world shattered and transformed the Legion was never defeated at Mount Hyjal like the fairy tale stories told to children to keep them from screaming out in the night and drawing demons towards the innocent. But yes these stories are lies not meant to be deceitful but to lull the young and entice them to fight for a better world. Now these lies are fruitless, insubstantial, unusable for the last vestige of humanity and its once proud allies have truly fallen. Locked in a cataclysmic war to save the races from utter annihilation they have forged new alliances, put aside old hatreds, and harnessed ancient magic. They have formed the Order of Rebirth.

The Order of Rebirth is based in the newly built city or Zaram`Wyrm built by Jaina Proudmoore and her young husband Anduin Wyrnn, the ‘black’ Prince of Stormwind. It is located within the mountain which was once the home of Onyxia and her Black Dragonflight but with the destruction of the World Tree and the shattering of the normal world the mountains once great rivers of lava have been diverted to where the city of Theramor would have once been built. Recently the Order and the Black Dragonflight have created a tentative alliance for neither can defeat the legion alone… but who knows what kind of things the Black Dragonflight have in store for their allies?

Zaram`Wyrm is a terraced city created similarly to Ironforge and Shadowforge built within Onyxia’s old lair; consisting of 4 levels and then the inner city which is located within her actual old lair. Over the past 20 years of war it has been transformed into a hard bitten bastion almost constantly under siege by demons and the forces of the Shadow Council. For these past 20 years many demons and cultists have tried to infiltrate the great city but all have failed but if they have no one will ever know. It is home to many refugees an anyone who lives in the city has learned to fight in one form or another; be it from Jaina and the few members of the Council of Dalaran led by Arugal, by the remnants of the Silverhand Paladins under the command of the deceased Uther The Lightbringers’ adopted son named Aruthis, by the leader of the town guard Rexis Blackmoore or even trained by Anduin himself as a member of the Black Light Paladins. The Black Light Paladins are a sect of Paladins and Death Knights whom have found their differences and defeat them to unit for a common goal, uniting dark magic and light together under the watchful eye of Anduin. Though these are the only well known institutes of training there are also healers and trackers, hunters and warlocks, any form of help is asked for and any form which can be used against the Legion is welcomed.

History of the Demons March on Zaram’Wyrm

Mal’ganis’ Infiltration –

Though the city has only been successfully broken into by a band of Nathreziem led by the Dreadlord Mal’ganis they were discovered and forced back by a group of Draenei who arrived upon a broken piece from the Exodar ship. They angled it correctly instead of landing on Bloodmyst isle but crashed upon the top of the mountain and barreled into an abandoned part of the city. They arrived just in time as they actually crashed down on top of the group of Nathreziem. Quickly dropping the guises they had been using the Nathreziem unleashed their fury upon the Draenei but not all things go as planned. Bursting from 2 places perched upon the ship two Nether Rays who had hitched a ride with their clutches of eggs rained terror down upon the Nathreziem. They quickly dismantled and destroyed them but the whereabouts of Mal’ganis remain a mystery. If he died or has lived on somehow no one knows.

Alas this battle was also a tragedy for both Nether Ray Broodmothers perished though luckily their clutches were discovered and a new young female has hatched named Draei`zhie. Currently she is under close watch and her first clutch of eggs will hatch within a few weeks. Her other brothers have been taken to the aviary where they have been trained to serve as mounts for the Black Light Paladins. The Draenei now live in this sector of the town and are the preeminent healers of Zaram.

Azgalors Ambush and the Assault of Tichondrius -

The assault led by Azgalor has remained dark in the memories of those who saw this happen. Through the years it seemed that somehow a certain group of people had defected to the Legions side and in secret beneath a chapel had constructed a Demon Gate linked to one built in Felwood by the Shadow Council. The Pit Lord Azgalor, Overlord of Felwood led a contingent of Felguards and Doomguards into the city attacking it from behind while the Lord of the Nathreziem Tichondrius attacked the city gates through the only entrance. This two pronged assault proved almost fatal had Anduin not created a backdoor portal in which the Black Dragonflight could come to their aid and vice versa. Onyxia herself as Katrana Prestor stepped forth to survey the carnage on the streets bellow from the castle known only as ‘Wyrm’. Raising her hand she unleashed waves of magic upon the city and with the combined might of Jaina, Anduin, and the surviving Paladins and Dalaran Mages they were able to pinpoint the portal. Onyxia then led her Dragonflight and Dragonkin to dismantle the assault and now some of her Dragonkin have opted to stay behind to further help the city.

Antonidas Betrayal and Rage Winterchill’s Deal –

Antonidas was one of the few members of the Council of Dalaran to escape from Dalaran with Jaina to the distant lands of Kalimdor. It was here that he along with Jaina used old blue prints to rebuild a miniature copy of Dalaran the Violet Citadel which is now known as the Violet Spyre. In secret though Antonidas had gone insane, with the loss of Dalaran his pride and glory Antonidas had gone into despair and come to Zaram in search of a way to regain his dream but he was that the humans and other races could never defeat the Legion they only delayed the inevitable. So Antonidas cut a deal with Rage Winterchill the Lich whom replaced the Lich King once Illidan had destroyed the Frozen Throne on order of Kil’jaedan. Antonidas used his magic to try and convert the wizards to necromancy but was failed and killed by Arugal who now commands the Violet Mages. Though briefly after his death his body was moved by means via magic to someplace else; now it is said he stalks the ranks of the armies of the Burning Legion.

City Layout and note-able places:
The city is terraced into four different levels.

The First Terrace:

The lowest level consists of training grounds, barracks, smiths, and mainly anything an army would need. Mainly the army and patrols roam heavily here. This terrace is about one mile wide and two miles in diameter. Its fortified walls and construction allow for lower levels of this terrace to be still attacked. The buildings rise each level becoming taller so that arrows fired down will prove more effective and arrows fired up will not.
In the far western corner of this Terrace is the crashed piece of the Exodar where the Draenei live. Though parts have been moved to the Outer Spire the Draenei presence here is still strong enough to provide healing and holy aid.

Among notable places here is the Barracks of the Black Stallion Guard these are the only land cavalry regiments that belong to the forces of Zaram. The Exodars’ crash site is situated here.

The Second Terrace:

The second terrace runs thin and long mainly consisting of houses built into the walls of the gigantic tunnel leading towards the third terrace. The tunnel goes up almost ten miles and provides the only entrance to the Outer Spire or Third Terrace. Great bridges go across and many siege engines and Archer regiments will be posted here to rain death upon their foes bellow. This is a place where merchants and cut throats reign free unsupervised. If you want to sell something the black market owned by the Goblin trade prince Mael’bourn is the place to go.

The Third Terrace:

Also known as the Outer Spire the third terrace is mainly the place where the populace dwells and the city burst and bustles like a normal city. Theft is not uncommon but the law here is hard. The only entrance into the Outer Spire is a long tunnel which stretches almost ten miles up. Here are the local inns, bars, brothels, and is also home to the training ground of the mages in the Violet Spyre. To the eastern outskirts of this Terrace sits a small complex which stretches up high into the cavernous place above these towers are the training grounds of the mages and also the home to the last living members of the once great Council of Dalaran.

The Inner Spire/The Fourth Terrace:

The Inner Spire is home to the castle of ‘Wyrm’ the residence of Anduin and Jaina Wyrnn the King and Queen of Zaram`Wyrm. It is here that the Black Light Paladins train and the aviaries exist for Griffins, Dragonhawks and Nether Rays.

Playable Races:

Human, Night Elf, Tauren, Blood Elves, Orc, Oger, Draenei, Dragonkin, Worgen and/or a Pet they might have.

I’m giving you really free rein on what type of person you want you can even make other races so long as you have a good story to bring them into the forces of good. I’m going to say that ONLY good characters and Neutral characters are allowed since really this story is more about making your life and fighting demons off while trying to live through a world that’s dieing and is broken.

You will need to find a way to situate yourself into one of the fighting forces so that you are helping to defend the city. Example one of my characters is Matthew Folais a young Black Light Paladin who will ride Drei`zhei the Broodmother of the Nether Rays. He is a refugee from Lordaeron who lost his memory but has fleeting nightmares about a brother who killed their father with a blade as cold as ice, no one knows his actual last name so he was dubbed Folais because when he was younger he was ‘foolish’. Matthew when he was young was mentored by Uther along with his brother and Uthers adopted son Aruthis.

Player Death:

Player Death is much different in this since when you die you are re-animated to fight for the darkness but if you die again you may be resurrected to fight for good. This way we don’t need to keep making new characters and it can get a lot more interesting with dieing, gathering info and infiltrating other bases while you are undead to only come back and help save the day and stop some evil ambush on a caravan of food. Permanents player death will only happen if you PM me and we agree to it both since I really like to see characters stay around.

Abilities and Talents:

Go wild please. If its powerful and you want to be powerful go right ahead but don’t spam it out a lot since there will be greater demons and only great power can help you fight against them. If I feel something is really really rigged I will either just tell you in the character thread or PM you about it.

The World Outside:

Take the world of Azeroth, add everything in the terrain that happened t o Cataclysm, add demonic corruption, mutation, and transformation to that. Then make it 50x more dangerous then before and that’s the world. Fel energy explodes out of the earth and periodic storms of Fel Energy crystals will rake the earth itself causing massive explosions. Mount Hyjal has become a massive legion stronghold where Archimond sits upon a throne built into the roots of the burning world tree. The elements themselves battle against the world and everything has been torn asunder. No map of the outside world has been made for it constantly changes monthly even daily.
