I want to make a map based on the boardgame Risk. Unlike the crappy ones around Bnet mine's gonna follow the actual Risk rules. Here's what I'm wonderin... I bought the LOTR edition of Risk earlier and liked it a lot more than standard Risk. I could make LOTR version with all the fun new rules and stuff but it would be a lot work for me so I might wanna stick with plain Risk... Which one do you think would be better to make? |

Is LOTR risk the version with the figures instead of the roman numerals. If so then I loved that version alot better than the original myself and would hope you could replicate it. If you need any help on anything just ask and either I or someone else will shurely see what we can do. Good luck which ever path you choose. |

LOTR risk means the Lord of the Rings version of Risk. It follows most of the basic rules of Risk but it takes place on a new gameboard and has a few new rules such as strongholds, leaders, and mission cards. I've been playing the boardgame and I enjoy it a lot more than normal risk. Basically I'm asking this... if I make a normal Risk game it won't stand out form the REST of the Risk games. It'll be hard as hell to even get people to join my games because they'll assume its a crappy Risk like the ones around today. If I do LOTR risk, some Risk fans will join to try the new variation, and some LOTR fans will join just because it says LOTR. I think it's a good idea because it makes it obviously seperate from the rest of the Risk games and attracts another group of people. And LOTR is pretty popular among people. The board game is very popular too. I got it at the mall half an hour after they got a shipment in, and they were already halfway sold out by the time I got mine! Here's a page about the LOTR risk if you wanna find out more about it. http://boardgames.about.com/library/...-risk-lotr.htm |

I am mere moments.... about a week or 2 from being done with a fully revised version of risk with the old rules for the most part. If you are interested in the not redoing the wheel again but beta testing this with me I would be happy to oblige. This map will be for risk probably the last map anyone will own, I hope. So if anyone else that is experienced in both risk and map making wants to help me put some final finishing touches on this I will glady take all the help I can get in beta testing. Let me know Thanks! :foot: Email me at [email protected] |

Yes I know as do I. This one will be...... well different. You will have to wait and see but I am hoping it to be the end all one people will have. Anyways if your interested or anyone else let me know I need some good beta testers. Thanks! PS This will NOT be another hero/monster one. It will take the best of the best that I have seen and make it better! |

Rod, is your Risk map following the official board game rules (or at least pretty damn close?) I want it to be accurate to the boardgame instead of the crappy ones around that don't deserve to be called "Risk". If your doing normal Risk, then we could work together to modify it to LOTR Risk. Even if you don't want to work on LOTR Risk with me (You wouldn't know all the specific rules anyway unless you get the bored game...) if you would allow me to use your triggers for normal Risk they would be extremely helpful for the LOTR version and of course I would give you credit. Anyway I'd be happy to help you beta test, but i gonna have to wait until no-CD hack for 1.05 is out to get on bnet cuz I lost my CD. I can still play single player but of course the map wouldn't work properly. I can look at the triggers though and offer suggestion if you send the map to me at [email protected] |

Guest | din why not make a risk game set in the wc3 universe, would save you alot of work and put a "original" twist into the game, though it sounds a little oxy moronic it could work. Get some of the maps from blizzard and what not and get cracking. |

Well that's a good idea and I could easily adapt the LOTR Risk rules to work on a new map. But I'm not too aware of the geography of the WarCraft world. I don't even remember anything from WarCraft 2 anymore. If anyone wants to make a map for me with 40-45 locations and seperate into 6 different region thingies. It might work better if we only used Azeroth and Lordaeron though. |

Been busy..... Yep its gonna be 95% risk + 150% of the other shit people have put it out..... So email me and we can work on making your LOTR dream or well almost any other come true with risk!!! Lets see if this sounds cool. 1. Playing cards. 2. Random/Pick starting positions. 3. User defined fog of war oh the list goes on and all that is already done :) man i love this stuff and its only day 10 for me! [email protected] |

Most excellent. I too wanted to create a Risk map true to the boardgame, so glad to hear someone is working on one. :) If you are in need of beta testers, let me know. With that said, I'm wondering if anyone has ever played the game Diplomacy? Another project I've wanted to tackle is bringing Dicplomacy into the realm of Warcraft implementing all rules and game play. There are also a lot of variants that ppl have come up with (for online play) that could be fun to implement. I'm not sure, however, how popular it would be amongst the drones of "TD OR DIE!!" players out there, seeing as Diplomacy is a game of tactics and strategy. |

I think I saw something like diplomacy on UMSmaps.com but I don't really remember. Anyway my thing is probably about 25% done. Well maybe a little less with all the tedious work of the triggers for which areas connect to which and what every single adventure card does. Anyway I might have to totally redo my terrain... I think I wanna do something a litle different with rivers because the way I have them right now its too big. Oh yeah I'm still looking for anyone who wants to do a map of Lordaeron and Azeroth for a War3 risk? I basically just need territories named and I can do the terrain myself... well of course you'd have to send me a picture showing the location of the territories... |
