My first map... Could use some ideas!

(Copied from my topic on The Helper (I don't want to have to type everything again))

Okay, well the other day, I was on my xbox, and got a demo for a game called Section 8, and I got thinking. I've never seen a game like this on WC3, and I think it'd be a very interesting addition to the game (WC3).

So far, I've figured out what it's going to be like.
It's going to be a lot like Section 8, but still unique.
I plan on having a "drop in" system, like what Section 8 uses, and I've already begun working on terrain (no screens yet), but I'm stuck on everything else.

I don't plan on having very many heroes. Probably 3-6 that you can choose from, but very customizable with many items, and stat attribs (along with spell builds)... Just a few things I've thought of, hero-wise.

My whole point behind hosting this is to get ideas for different systems I could make, or item ideas, or terrain suggestions (it's modern-style terrain, with roads and streetlights, and such (if I can find good models, of course)), or just comments on the idea!

Description:
Okay, so the game is like a Capture the Flag style map, except instead of flags, it's bases.
The whole point is to capture all the bases on the map, OR score a high enough score to win (usually around 1000, or 2500).
Each player will be able to pick a hero (I'm thinking either 4 or 6), each with only a base spell, and each different (some ranges, some melee, some with more stats, less HP, some with less stats, more HP, etc...).
Each hero will begin with a single spell, but the player can later choose new spells for the hero, after each level.
Players can also customize the heroes stats (you get X points each level, which you can pick what attribute they go ti).
I'm planning on making about 50-100+ items, each adding more attack, or more defense, another spell, and such...

So yeah, that's all I got at the moment.

------------

So, I've already made one system (detects whether a unit is near an outpost), although I did need some help on getting it to work properly.

I'm going to start on object data, as soon as I find some nice models to use, and I'm going to work on spells as soon as I have ideas. Same with items.

Er... Could you be any more vague?? You want to do something - you don't know what, you don't know how - but you want to do something.

You're going to have to put alot more on the table for us to work with. Start by explaining about Section 8 - what made it fun on Xbox, which elements you'd like to reproduce, any ideas you've had YOURSELF...

Hmm. Thought I posted that stuff...

Well, Section 8 is kinda hard to describe (and I'm terrible with descriptions), but it's kinda like a CTF game, but instead of flags, you capture bases to win.
After you've captured all the bases, OR hit 1000 points (each kill gives roughly +12 points, and basecaptures and stuff like that do too), you win.
Each player can customize themselves, with different builds. Some could have a faster run speed, while others could have more armor. They can also choose the weapons (primary and secondarty) they want in the game.
One of the big things in the game though, is the ability to "Drop in". Instead of spawning at set locations, each player can "Drop in" on anywhere in the map. This means you can drop in right behind an enemy, and kill them.
Because this could be really OP, each base is protected by cannons which will make it so players (unless they're on the team that owns the base) cannot drop in.

So, that's the basics of it.

What I'm going to do is recreate a lot of that game, into my map, but also make it unique in a way.

Well, you could start by downloading the StarCraft race interface that unwirklich made, would be appropriate for your futuristic setting.

What I meant about content - what are the abilities called? What weapons do you get? What are the factions called? You could be talking about a Chess map for all we know!

Well, factions would be split into two teams (which I haven't decided want to call yet), each team with 5 players.
Abilities would be basic AoE, or DoT spells. I haven't really begun on any yet, but I'm going to soon.
Since it's a futuristic map, weapons would be things like guns, or riles, or lasers.
Different ranks for each weapon, which can be upgraded with each level, and such.

I'm not sure what the level-cap will be though... I'm thinking 20-25, but I'll need to think about it more... Until I do that, I can't quite work on spells, because they'll all be based on levels.

Well, it sounds like you have some important decisions to make in that case. I'd suggest you start.
