Hammer of the Naaru

I decided I'll post it here. It's still a work-in-progress, so please post any constructive criticism you have in mind. Made from scratch in Milkshape 3D by me, using a self-made screenshot from the model viewer of WoWHead from this page as a background image on the left viewport in Milkshape. Keep in mind I'm just a beginner, and it's the first time I attempt to scratch-make something that is not a sword\dagger. Also note there is no texture yet.

It's... A hammer. Okay. What exactly do you want us to say? I mean, I don't like the strange rock-shape at the head, just because I don't like rocks as heads for hammers, but that doesn't really say much. Your wireframe doesn't look abominable and it's not hyper over-detailed (though it is doesn't need all that angled nonsense structure under the rock-head).

That's kind of.. All that can really be said.

Well, it's an attachment. I really asked nicely that you'll keep in mind I'm just a beginner, I can't really make a whole chest and stuff yet. I attempted to mimic a weapon from World of Warcarft and I even posted a link to place where you can see images and a 3D model preview of it.

Are 396 triangles wise for an attachment? Is there a particular "high"-poly model you have in mind for this to be attached to?

If I was in your shoes, a lot of that shaft would be a four-sided cylinder, but if you're aiming for a different context than WC3-standard then go for it.

Well, I am aiming for mimicking World of Warcraft... I just try to make my models look similar to their equals at WoW at the moment.

And you could still achieve that with fewer polies by doing what RDZ suggests!

Hmm? What do you mean by that, Nuclear? The hammer crystal looks so because I wanted it to have a "unique" shape. I'm sorry if I did something horribly, horribly wrong without knowing it, but it would be better if you would describe what you mean with words.

i just showed how you can reduce the number of polys and it likely will be unnoticeable. what ever

Oh, okay, thanks. I'm sorry for being so stupid. I'll most likely do what you said, thank you.

In game this hammer is small, it needs to be robust. You have used same amount details in your hammer like ordinary small buildings use which is around 300 polys.

I am not sure does polys in Warcraft mean triangles ( it makes 300 x 3 = 900 vertecies).
