Items for Towers?

Im trying to add item bonuses to towers (ex. like in Paladin TD).
One is to add fire damage, or cold (slowing)..
Ive tried several ways to make the items work!
I know it should activate the selected attack and so on, but for some reason they dont.

Is there anything that i forgot to do to make them activate?

he want orbs to stack, attack fire and ice same time...

and dont know how paladin TD actually works.

with phoenix fire items, not orbs...
