Help with ribons

First of all, just to be on the right side, ribons are what makes lightning and other linear visual effects (like chain lightning, finger of pain, healing wave, etc), right?

I need to add some lightning to a hero model and I have no idea what to do. I am using magos and know how to create a ribon emitter but it isn't appearing and I don't know what to put in its feilds to make it work.

No, ribbons are not how lightning effects are done.

Lightnings are built into the engine. If you're trying to make an ability use lightning that doesn't normally, you'll need to trigger it.

Magos' model editor does not support ribbons, so you need to test them in-game.

Ohh, lightning is made by the animated textures, right?

If that is the case, then what are ribons for?

Ribbons are generally used for projectile trails, like the Faerie Dragon's missile, or for weapon blur effects like the Blademaster's sword. That is, things that leave a trail of a specific length that follows them.

Whereas, lightnings are instant point-to-point strips that waver and animate for a period of time before ceasing to exist -- they're in-game things that cannot be accessed by an MDX.
