World Editor Crash

Alright, I've encountered a problem I've never ever seen before in the WE.

Yesterday, I changed my map by size and edited alot of things. Saved dozens of times.
Now this day, when I try to open the map (It's just that map, all other maps can be opened normally), it finishes loading everything then just stops and Vista gives me the message: "worldedit.exe has stopped working. Searching for a solution for the problem."

I usually don't use the Wc3 CD, but I thought I might try and use it to see if that was the problem, but it didn't work either.

Any help would be very appreciated since I've spent alot of time on this project.

EDIT: It seems I've gotten some kind of trouble in my WE. Today I used my backup map to once again try to add the changes I was planning, after about the fifth time I saved and reopened the map the same error occurs again.

I'm very well aware of that. My last backup is the version before all the changes I made, and it won't cover the time I need to redo all those changes.

try MPQ editor, if mpq is not corrupted you will able to recover most data.

if MPQ is corrupted you will need to restore it, there is no such tool, soo you will need to make it yourself.

if you use jassnewgenpack it creates backups whenever you save. these backups can be found in the backup(s?) folder in the jassnewgenpack folder.

I will try that, thanks.

To bad I don't use Jassnewgen. Last time I used it I had simply moved a map to a different location and was not openable after that, so I stopped using Jassnewgen. Really makes me frustrated now that you say it creates backups, since I didn't know that at that time.

Hello again, I am still looking for help about this issue.
I've tried the above suggestions but none of them solves the situation.

If there is anyone out there that are willing to take a look at my map then please ask me to send to map to you, I would greatly appreciate it.

Anyways, thanks for offering help.

Map1 is your map without doodads settings.

Map2 is your map without doodads. (BUT with all other data)

Im sure, problem is:

Default scale of doodads is outside min and max range, when editor stars doodads allocation over map, its crush for good, to fix this:

for Map1 import doodads settings from Map2
WITHOUT saving
fix doodads params in object editor and reset all doodads scale on map
save
pray
load
post result

for Map2
fix doodad settings
place doodads again
dont pray
dont post result

NOTE: to recover imported files use any MPQ editor, MPQ is not corrupted soo this data is not included.
Attached Files
File type: w3m(2)BootyBay.w3m (173.9 KB)
File type: w3x(2)BootyBay2.w3x (780.9 KB)

Thank you very much! I would never have figured that out myself.
I'm not really sure what you want me to do though. I don't know how to import "settings", but I will simply recreate everything that was lost, without screwing the doodad scales up.
Again, many thanks.

Yes, that is exactly what I am doing right now, seemed more simple than the previous post.

It's kinda wierd, I always thought that the max & min scale options was the % increases/decreases of the default scale. In either case, Im going to try adjusting the max & min scalings so they match the default.

i am not sure/

this based of fact - scale factor is one and only changed param for doodads.
