Some of you may have noticed that cliffs have shadows on certain sides of them (see attachments). Does anyone know of a way to remove them? |

iirc, there is a shadow map file that it is generated by world edit, and you can even recalculate it, and likely hand deleted from within the map/w3x/mpq archive. The problem is that that will also deleted preplaced building and doodad's shadows. |

Theres also some light angle thingies in that terrain miscdata file, but I got no idea what they do, so dont really know if they have any use for you. |

Those aren't shadows, that's lighting. WC3 uses two lighting models, one for terrain and one for units (and doodads?). It might be possible to replace the terrain light model for one that has an "ambient" colour and intensity the same as the normal colour and intensity, thus lighting the occluded areas in the same way and removing the darkness... Might be worth a try anyway, but I've never done anything like that before. |
