Custom Model With Variations

What paths do I import a base model and it's variations as to create a custom doodad with numerous variations?

Dunno if you can.

Maybe you could use a doodad you would never use like Lilypads (example) and just replace the variations with your own.

The base model for lilypad is:
Doodads\Ashenvale\Water\AshenvaleLilyPad\AshenvaleLilyPad

It somehow gets to pass off in OE without the .mdl automatically placed?
Then you just import your model as like:
Doodads\Ashenvale\Water\AshenvaleLilyPad\AshenvaleLilyPad0.mdl
Doodads\Ashenvale\Water\AshenvaleLilyPad\AshenvaleLilyPad1.mdl
Doodads\Ashenvale\Water\AshenvaleLilyPad\AshenvaleLilyPad2.mdl
Doodads\Ashenvale\Water\AshenvaleLilyPad\AshenvaleLilyPad3.mdl
Doodads\Ashenvale\Water\AshenvaleLilyPad\AshenvaleLilyPad4.mdl

I tried playing around with importing a 'base folder' which it stems from but it didn't work out well.
