(1) Scars of Conflict

Introduction
Scars of Conflict (SoC) is an altered melee that is being developed by myself (Linaze), Debode and Mr.Goblin with contributions from several others (kudos to them). Development of the project began many years ago, but has been restarted several times, but the basic premise was (until much recently) the same: a campaign taking place during the second war (Warcraft II) where you play as the Orcish Horde. In late '09, the project was started once more, now under the name Scars of Conflict, I was the only developer at the time, but shortly after development started, Mr.Goblin hopped on the team as a terrainer and 2D-artist. Development went great for a couple of months, but in May 2010, the project died, but was brought back to life only a month later. Shortly thereafter, it was decided that the project would changed into an altered melee, and that's where we are today.

Features
  • No heroes, SoC is not an RPG.
  • Two almost completely new techtrees.
    • New units.
    • New buildings.
    • New abilities.
    • New upgrades.
  • Naval warfare (much like in Warcraft 2).
  • Control points with various abilities.
  • A horde of custom resources.
  • Entirely new SoC-only melee maps.

Gameplay
The gameplay of SoC is based off of the Warcraft 3 melee gameplay, but with the difference that naval warfare, control points and more (see features above) has been added in SoC. A game of SoC starts rather simple, you have a town hall building, a few workers and some resources at your disposal. At this point, you have to train more workers, harvest resources, make sure your units are supplied with enough food by constructing farms and decide on one of the many available strategies to use during the game. Later on, you'll need to start training an army which you'll order to either attack your enemy, expand your base by securing another gold mine or moving out to secure one of the map's control points. As you construct more buildings and upgrade your town hall, more and more units and upgrades will become available for training/researching, and eventually you'll be able to train powerful units such as Ogres and Dragons. The winner of a game is the player who manages to destroy the opponent's base first.

Any idea how many missions you're going to build for this campaign?

@JokeMaster, I take it that is a positive comment?
@Frost-... Ikum-bokum, thanks, I hope I'll put it to good use as well. :P
@Skow, I am unsure as of now, to be honest, we'll see, I guess.

Edit: Added a few more items to the first post.

I've been working on a model-edit for a WC2 mage for Linaze, if it's going to be good enough it's going to get a texture from Mr.Goblin.

In-game screenshots for terrain, please?

I do like the polish you've put into the PR though, but can't say much about the game itself.

Screenshots ain't loadin'.

Also, the human transport needs work. I mean look at the front. Stretched texture is stretched.

@Kwah, in-game screenshots will come, and they will replace the ones taken from the WE, since I feel that they give a better feel of the gameplay. Also, thanks for that about the PR.
@Ikum-bokum, Odd, the screenshots are loading fine for me, and it seems like it worked well for Kwah. Regarding the human transport, I personally don't find it too bad, but I guess I could ask the author to try to improve it.
@All, thanks for the comments, they're appreciated, really.

Good presentation, I hope this time the project will go farther. Good luck!

(Also, the Ogre's glove is a nice WcII touch )

I'm impressed so far. Keep that terrain work up, and hopefully the gameplay will match.

Nifty terrains... nice use of fog, dirt... and custom trees, right?
