Warcraft: Apocalypse
"The banners of old traditions have been raised. The age of the Apocalypse has come." - Warchief Thrall

Gameplay

This map will be very much like a strategy map. Though, definently not melee. Instead of having towering, uber 9000 health and 500 damage units, I use small, low health, and low damaged units (ex: footmen are size 0.50 with 5 damage and 50 health). All units (besides workers) give a small gold and lumber bounty on death. With this, you may buy upgrades for your soldiers or create elite units. You can also capture outposts and create lumber camps for additional resources.

Story

(Note: the Horde and Alliance are allied due to a Peace Treaty.)

The Alliance (2 players, Gnomeregan, kirin tor, argent crusade, stormwind surviviors, Kul'tiras, Theramore + Night Elves, Draenei, Ironforge, earthen, Wildhammer Dwarves, Silver Covenant)

"We have seen many deaths, many sorrows, but within this very mountain, this very sanctuary for all Alliance, we stand strong as a beacon of HOPE, a beacon of LIGHT, a beacon of The Alliance!" - Highlord Dargren Athrin

The Alliance were the first to be warned of the Apocalypse by Medivh to Varian Wyrnn. One one final push against the Lich King, there was a valiant battle. In the end the Lich King was killed, but at the price of Tirion. Dargren Athrin took leadership after Tirion's death, being a good friend of Tirion. Tirion's body became one with the light, leaving only his armor behind. A memorial was built for Tirion near Uther's Tomb. Tirions armor was placed upon his statue. The Alliance were prosperous, or they thought. The Lich King had survived the battle and launched a series of attacks on the Alliance, fueled by hatred. With the Alliance in heavy need, the Argent Crusade joined the Alliance, though the Horde members left and rejoined the Horde. Neromaxaras, even more dreaded than Naxxramas, and owned by Deathchill, the successor as Archlich of the Scourge after Kel'thuzad's death, began an air-battle with Dalaran. In the end, Neromaxaras won and Dalaran literally came crashing into the ground into the Crystalsong Forest, hundreds of people dead. The ragged and depleted surviviors, Kirin Tor or not, tried to escape Northrend. Rhonin and Vereesa were unfortunately killed in battle and Khadgar rallied the surviviors and became (who was currently in Dalaran) leader of the Kirin Tor. Khadgar used much of his power to create a portal to Stormwind, were the surviviors went through. Khadgar agreed to rejoin the Alliance and aid them. After a series of battles, Stormwind was lost to the Scourge. The citizens of Stormwind evacuated to Ironforge, which became a beacon of light for all the Alliance. The impentrable fortress city of Ironforge is now a safe haven for any Alliance refugees.

The Scourge (one player, two if the Kathudrashi Empire joins the Scourge.)

"Your light... is failing. If your light truly cared for your petty existance, Dargren, why does my shadowy grasp spread through YOUR lands?" - The Lich King

Ever since the Cataclysm, the Scourge has been doing excellent in their conquest. Almost completely taking over Eastern Kingdoms as their own, only few beacons of hope resonate through it. Though, the Lich King himself fears the remaining forces of the Cataclysm. He still recovers from his battle with Tirion, were he slew the paladin, and was in a vulnerable state for any attack upon Northrend. Instead, he went into hiding until he healed. The Scourge focuses mainly on the Eastern Kingdoms, but he has recently encroached his dark grasp across the seas, having Southern Eastern Kingdom in his control, to Southern Kalimdor. In there, the Scourges biggest challenge is currently the Burning Legion. Though, the Horde fights valiantly to protect their homeland. And in all this terror, an ancient being who was thought to be dead rises, and unleashes his hate upon Kalimdor.

The Burning Legion (two players, Magtheridon's Armies and Kil'jaeden's Armies)

"Flee pathetic maggot, flee! You truly believed Outlands was yours, bah! This world shall cower under the dark glare of the Burning Legion once again! I am the one and only ruler of Outlands!" - Magtheridon

As the war and fury echo within the lands of Azeroth, the Burning Legion has hidden in shadows waiting for the right moment...when the Cataclysm began, and Deathwing returned, the great warlocks of the Legion sensed that a dark and powerful evil has risen, and that their time has come as well. After Magtheridon's 'defeat' to a group of rag-tag 'heroes', his corpse was disposed of and his old prison was reformed into a Warlock Academy. Though, this was Illidan's worst mistake. Magtheridon survived his wounds and opened a portal, calling forth demons to his aid. A civil war within Outlands burst out, but in the end Magtheridon was victorious. He reclaimed Outland as his own. The portal he created also allowed the Burning Legion to flow through, making them able to return. Illidan, now in exile, has something in store, but nobody knows what. Now, Magtheridon declares war on the Scourge, and heavy battles occur within the Blasted Lands. Though seeing an obvious victory, Magtheridon's new overconfidence may be his downfall.

After obtaining the three you must place then within the summoning circle in the Black Temple. Mephistroth and Azgalor must be alive or the process will not work. After one minute, Kil'jaeden will be summoned from the circle.)

The Silithid (one player, allied with the Iron Empire)

"You truly though.... I was gone? Dead...? Hah! The eyes of oblivion are upon you. C'thun will rise again!" -Cho'Gall

The Slithid have been around Azeroth for centuries. Not too many years ago, before this event, a war occurred. The Old God, C'thun, had risen to destroy all of Azeroth once again. The Alliance and Horde, united under High Overlord Saurfang, were called the Might of Kalimdor. Together, Ahn'Qiraj was ravaged and C'thun was killed. Or, at least that's what we hoped. We were far from right, and our assumption will be one of the biggest mistakes of history.

The Iron Empire (one player, allied with the Silithid)

"Azeroth has been broken, the works of the Pantheon in flame! The mortals attempt to cling to their civilization. I have seen the rise and fall of empires that have been erased from the very History of Azeroth! Those cursed with flesh shall forever burn! The Pantheon shall fall!" -Loken, Destroyer of Mortality

After the Halls of Stone and Lightning where destroyed, and Ulduar bested, the Horde and Alliance left the Ancient city. But, like C'thun, Yogg-Saron survived against the armies of the Alliance and Horde, though he was extremely weak. He used his little power to resurrect Loken's dead body of metal, and created a massive floating citadel above Storm Peaks, Ulduel. With it, he gathered the remaining Iron Dwarves, Iron Vrykul, and Mechagnomes and reforged even more armies. Though, the Earthen had now moved into the remains of Ulduar and rebuilt it in all its glory. They became friendly with both the Alliance and Horde. Though, they never expected the horrors as Ulduel utterly destroyed the Earthen's civilization. Knowing their close relation to the dwarves, they joined the Alliance and created a new base within the tunnels of Uldaman. Ulduar, beyond repair, was useless to Yogg-Saron. Ulduel was sent to the ruins of the Sunwell. With the Sunwell's power, they brought back Yogg-Saron to full power. Yogg-Saron established a terrifying fortress among the ruins. Even now, C'thun and Yogg-Saron converse telepathically on their dark deeds.

"You tink we trolls ganna' be gone like dat? We be lastin' beforea' dah Titans came, mon! We be INVINCIBLE!" - Emperor/High Prophet Grik'nir.

Grik'nir the Cold lead the remaining Frostmane trolls and was the descendant of their previous emperors in their glorious days. The Frostmanes were a large kingdom and ruled with an iron grip in what is now known as present-day Dun Morogh. Untill, of course, the dwarves awoken from their slumber. They conquered the trolls and utterly threw them out of their homes. Grik'nir worked hard to keep what was left of his peoples land. Though, the dwarves of Khaz Modan were superior and eventually overthrew Grik'nir. They beat him and then threw him out alone into the wilderness. Humiliated, hurt, dissapointed, and without any aid, Grik'nir crawled into a ball and hoped for a swift death. He quickly fell into a slumber and he saw the Troll God of Suffering, or Kath'draku, within his dream. Kath'draku told him to meet the remnants of the Drakkari Trolls in the frozen wastelands of Northrend, he would know what to do from there. Grik'nir woke up and found himself in the destroyed ruins of Gundrak, the once proud and glorious capital of the Drakkari Empire. Over time he collected his Ice Troll brethren from around Azeroth that were seeking refuge. He collected a vast empire, beyond any Troll Empire throughout history. Fueled by his pain and hatred he ruled just like his ancestors, the Emperors of the Frostmane did, with an iron grip. Being proclaimed as the true Emperor of the Ice Trolls and High Prophet of Kath'draku, he quickly mustered a huge army of Ice Trolls. They rebuilt the magnificent city of Gundrak and quickly conquered Zul'drak from the Lich King. Battle after battle Grik'nir's empire came out victorious. He went south and conquered the Grizzly Hills and Howling Fjord. He proclaimed his new empire the Kathudrashi Empire, in honor of Kath'draku. He now intends to move in on Dragonblight to destroy the Scourge's large fortress there that is currently battling Wyrmrest Temple.

"I gather choo' all t'day b'cause of dah recent uprisin' of da Ice Trolls! Dey becomin' too big, too powerful! But dis be ain't all, mon. Dos' Ice Trolls got some dark stuff behin' em!" - King Rastakhan, King of all trolls.

With the uprising of the Ice Trolls becoming too out of hand, King Rastakhan, current king of the trolls, gathered all the remaining troll leaders (besides the Ice Trolls). With them all gathered, Rastakhan took out the ancient troll treaty. Forged tens of thousands of years ago in Azeroth's early days, the scroll stated that no troll empire was to even become too powerful. With the treaty broken, King Rastakhan formed a union of all the troll races to fight against the overpowering Ice Troll Empire after deeming them traitors of the ancient laws. The Zandalar Union generally aid the Horde in these times and have remodeled their capital city, Zuldazar, to a bastion of power.

The Titanic Watchers (one player)

Loken... Was right....
The Titan's creations... Have failed them again...
Alliance, Horde.... No matter which... All have failed...
Even the Vrykul, Dwarves, Gnomes, have failed the Titans..... Even Loken... Has succumbed to the whispering of Old Gods...
Come, brothers and sisters... We shall cleanse this world of these failed mortals and the Old Gods, and finish what Algalon... Have been tasked to...

-Zaron, The Guardian of Order

After the defeat of Algalon the Observer and the sending of Reply Code Alpha, Azeroth got rid of their problem with the Titans.

However, after his defeat, Algalon has been demoted from his position and sent off to some other planet in the twisting nether. Zaron, The Guardian of Order has been instructed to take his place. Zaron was very strict and powerful. Compared to him, Algalon was a flea and a baby in terms of power and strictness respectively.

As the new Observer, Zaron was very aware of everything that happens in Azeroth. And now, the Apocalypse has forced him to act. Remembering Loken's "false" report, he didn't want the same thing to happen again. He collected his brothers and sisters who were willing to aid in his cleansing of Azeroth.

To his surprise, most, if not all of the High Watchers agreed with him. With their help, he mustered a sizable forces and began his strike on Azeroth, starting with Northrend.

Hostile Factions:

Black Dragon Remnants

Shattered and nearly extinct, the black dragonflight bands under multiple leaders across the world. Some have joined the Dragonmaw clan for the sake of survival, though others roam Azeroth carrying powerful items and artifacts to protect them.

The Blackclaw Tribe

In this time of war, the Gnolls have banded together to form a single giant tribe, the Blackpaw Tribe. Led by King Hogger, the first gnoll king to ever exist, they attack ANYONE who isn't a gnoll.

The Lords of the Sea

As the goblins of Booty Bay finally decimated plunder isle, the bloodsail buccaneers crawled to their Southsea Pirate brethren. Taking them in, the North Sea pirates also came. These vicious warriors now control the sea and will bombard any ship that dares goes past them unnarmed. Their base of operations is the island of Hiji. They are at constant war for the seas with the naga.

United Venture Wardrives

Mogul Razdunk, the leader of the Venture Co. had died, at the hands of the Black Dragonflight, years ago.
Firglez Kirzinno, a high-ranking executive in the Venture Co., mourned his death, but took this opportunity to seize power. It didn't take long before he became the undisputed ruler of them. While most goblins would've just made more money, or in this case, cut down more woods, Firglez had something much different in mind. The Venture Co. was frequently attacked and their workers killed, and he considered this unjust. Firglez spent years convincing smaller goblin companies and organizations to join the new "empire" called the United Venture War Drives. He had only one goal; avenge the Company's losses, and he continues to do that today, his forces varying from brute mercs to intelligent scientists. They are unwilling to make any alliances or compromises, to anyone, good or evil, and will attack on sight.

The Bladespire Alliance

The Bladespire Alliance are a formation of ogres who oppose the Ogre Horde. Led by High King Maulgar, king of the Outland Ogres and survivor of the Battle of Gruul's Lair, the Bladespire Alliance lack in numbers but their physical strength and ferocity, with the aid of the remaining Gronn, make up for this.

This is the timeline of Warcraft: Apocalypse beginning from the siege of Icecrown Citadel with two short stories I made and a bonus one at the end.

Icecrown Citadel Assault

After months of preparation, the final assault of Icecrown Citadel began.

Lead by High Crusader Dargren Athrin, who wielded a blade named "Undeadsbane", the siege was a success. A top the Frozen Throne, the Lich King and multiple leaders of the world stood face to face.

Tirion gripped the Ashbringer as it began to burst in holy light.

"ARTHAS!" He screamed.

"It ends here, and now! So many have fallen to your prison of a blade, so many have screamed for aid to the abominations you've unleashed upon this world, so many have the lust for vengeance! It ends today, Arthas, right here, right NOW!"

Tirion rushed towards Arthas and swung the Ashbringer, Arthas parried with Frostmourne and sent a chilling wave of cold down Tirions spine.

High Warlord Zakruul and High Overlord Saurfang held off the undead on one side of the Frozen Throne as King Magni Bronzebeard and Muradin Bronzebeard, accompanied by Dargren Athrin, held the other.

Tirion tried to regain his strength, but the Lich King was too quick. He send a wave of shadow at Tirion, knocking him to the ground. He then rushed at Muradin and raised his blade in the air, getting ready to impale Muradin as Magni screamed for him to look behind.

Just then, an arrow and firebolt zoomed past the Lich King's head. He turned around to see Jaina Proudmoore and Sylvanas Windrunner side-by-side.

The Lich King blasted Sylvanas and Jaina into a pillar, making them fall to the ground.

"Fools, my power is limitless, you fight in vain!" he bellowed.

Tirion caught his breath and rushed at Arthas with the Ashbringer. Arthas blocked the swing and whipped the Ashbringer onto the floor. Tirion's eyes were wide as his body was left open, and he was stabbed in the stomach by Frostmourne.

Dargren Athrin turned around, being a good friend of Tirion, he yelled out Tirions name in a tone of rage and despair.

Dargren began running to Tirion, but the Lich King suddenly stepped in front of him and backhanded him away like he was nothing.

"We are no longer on hallowed ground, fools! Your light cannot aid you now!" The Lich King mocked.

Jaina and Sylvanas regained conciousness and looked in terror, as well as the other leaders.

The Lich King casted a spell which sent bolts of shadow and frost everywhere, inflicting huge ammounts of pain to everyone. The leaders, half-conscious, looked at the Lich King and their soon to come deaths.

Just then, Dargren Athrin began to see the souls stolen by Frostmourne circle around him, though nobody else could see them.

Uther stepped up from the large crowd.

"Retribution must be brought, Dargren, you know what you must do".

Saurfang the Younger also appeared.

"Finish it, so my father may sleep knowing I am resting among the ancestors".

Bolvar Fordragon's tortured soul also appeared. (though bolvar himself was still living)

"The blood of his own people can only be repaid in blood".

And lastly, Dargrens own wife appeared, who was turned into a mindless ghoul by the Scourge.

"Do it for our son, Kuriann. At this very moment he prays you will return".

And in a flash of light, the spirits were gone.

Dargren used what was left of his strength to crawl to Tirion, who was still alive but close to death.

Tirion looked at Dargren and weakly nodded at him, knowing what he was going to do.

Dargren, with Undeadsbane in his hand, reached for the Ashbringer. In a blinding flash of light that was seen all the way in Valgarde, the two blades combined. The Lich King whipped around to see what had happened. Undeadsbane and the Ashbringer no longer existed, there was only Ashbane, a weapon of retribution.

Dargren looked at the Lich King with gleaming yellow eyes.

"I do not need to be on hallowed ground, I only need hope".

Dargren rushed at the Lich King and swung Ashbane with immense force. The force was so powerful, Frostmourne cracked and visible souls slowly seeped out of it.

The Lich King himself looked in terror

"This cannot be! I... I am invincible!".

"Your end is here." Dargren said.

Dargren jumped up into the air and sliced down, cutting across the Lich King's chest and smoke became to come out of the wound. The Lich King fell down to the cold floor of the Frozen Throne and laid there, lifeless.

Dargren immediately rushed to Tirion.

"Tirion! I finished it, i've ended it!"

Tirion looked at Dargren, too weak to speak. A smile slowly faded in, and then Tirions body began to glisten. Tirion's very body dissolved into light, leaving behind his armor, and became one with the light. Dargren knew that he at least died happy.

Dargren mended the weak leaders and then brought them to consciousness, they all aided in carrying Tirion's armor for his funeral. Dargren could hear Tirion's voice in his head. The voice was faint, but it sounded of "Thank you".

The Lich King waited untill they left, and dragged himself across the floor. The wound had stopped smoking and was now gushing with purple blood. The Lich King grabbed his helmet and began crawling. The Lich King's body left a trail of purple liquid as he dragged himself across the Halls of Icecrown Citadel. Eventually, he reached the Halls of Reflection, the Lich King's private chambers. There, he sat upon the Shadow Throne, a dark replica of the Lordaeron Throne Room that he himself dreamed of claiming as his own. He began to indulge himself in thoughts of hatred, think thoughts of denial, and began his planning of the new age of Azeroth that was soon to become.

The Apocalypse has begun.

Varian's Encounter

It was a dark and stormy night, the wind was howling in its hunt around the castles walls' - It was all so similar to the night years ago.
King Varian Wyrnn had fallen asleep on his throne, with his crown covering the eyes. It had been a very long day with a lot of major events, all thanks to the world wide celebration of Deathwing's defeat. The Horde and Alliance had finally learned to settle their differences and made peace, at least for the time being.

King Varian woke up by a sudden burst of thunder. He walked down the hallways of Stormwind Keep to his private quarters. He pushed opened the door of his quarters and saw the Lich King standing there. The Lich King swung his blade and beheaded Varian, blood shedding across the floor and Varian's soul eaten by Frostmourne.

Varian woke up, it was just a nightmare. Varian tried to get up from his throne, but he was restrained by an unknown force. Just then, Medivh walked from the shadows. Varian looked at the man and said "Who are you and why are you here?" in a rude tone.

Medivh revealed his identity to the young king.

Varian scoffed at Medivh, still with hatred for opening the Dark Portal. He asked in a harsh tone "What are you doing here?".

Medivh smiled and looked at Varian. He calmly said

"The banners of olden times are rising. The powers of the world are roused for battle. Azeroth's end will be caused by its very inhabitants very soon, king".

Varian looked at Medivh with the common "WTF" expression. He then stood from his throne and said "Would you repeat that?".

Medivh began to look frustrated.

"You heard me, Varian Wyrnn. Think quick, king, the Apocalypse is coming".

Before Varian could say anything else, Medivh was gone in a flash of lightning which brightened the dark halls of Stormwind Keep.

A Hero's Death (bonus short story)

This is a short story I made regarding the Fall of Stormwind in Warcraft: Apocalypse

Enjoy :)!

I looked at my blade, one last time. Gleaming in the sunlight, I knew we were all dead.

I was a noble Knight of Stormwind once, many fell to my blade. I was proud, I was a warrior.

Me, and only one thousand others, stood there.

The field was crimson, the ground was moist with blood, a heavy stench of disgust and rot filled the air.

We stared, face to face, at the uncountable undead legions.

One Knight tried to run, and he was shot in the back by a Scourge Marksman, falling off his horse and breaking his neck. A coward's fate.

Just then, the Scourge, in all their might, charged at us. It was the last stand of Stormwind.

I let out the roar of a lion, we charged and the air was filled with dust, and sounds of the clinging of our armor.

Blood flew into the air, horses, dead and alive, screeching. Abominations plummeting to the ground and crushing a group of ghouls, or a Knight flying into another.

We were all volunteers to hold off the undead as long as we could so the villagers of Stormwind could evacuate. We knew we would die, but we had already lost everything. This was our chance to do something worth dieing for.

The battle was gruesome, the already blood-tainted ground became more moist. I looked around, all I could see was corpses, I was the last one standing.

Not the last one alive, but definitely the last one standing. I looked down to see a Knight crawling to me in his dieing moments, literally cut in half by an Abomination cleaver. I prayed to the light for him as his eyes closed and his head dropped to the cold earth, dead.

I knew more would come. I wasn't leaving, I wasn't going to run. I looked at the horizon, the sun was setting, and I could see small figures.

The ground rumbled, The Scourge trampled over bodies as they rushed forward. A Death Knight approached me, he lead this army.

My horse, her name was Courage, for she had much, just as I did.

Courage was dead, I was on my feet for much of this battle, I mourned for my horse, praying she was with the light.

On my feet I gripped by sword, holding my shield high.

"Put that down, fool, and we might let you run." said the Death Knight menacingly.

I lowered my shield, and simply smiled.

"Go to hell." I said.

I threw my sword at the Death Knight, a lucky shot, plunging right through his skull, falling to the ground, dead.

The Skeletal Archers shot at me, I saw a thousand arrows piercing me, ghouls ripping me apart and eating me alive, though I felt none of this. For I was too busy asking myself something.

Am I a hero?

Epilogue
Hidden information:
It ended up that this Knight was indeed a hero, a survivor from the Undead who was decommissioned from heavy wounds ending up seeing the whole thing, and this Knight has been immortalized in a statue in the city of of Ironforge. It was indeed that because of this Knight, if he did not kill the Scourge Force's leader, the Scourge would of plummeted through thousands of preparing villagers. With the Death Knight dead, the Scourge roamed confused for hours until another leader arrived and finally got them into shape to attack Stormwind, only to see it empty and desolate.

The answer to his question, yes, he was a hero.

Wall of text, no images, extremely boring presentation. I strongly suggest improving it if you want anyone to actually read through your current mess of a thread.

well if you actually read it you'd know why it dosn't have pictures, please don't post comments like that.

also, if you really cared about the project, you'd read it anyway despite it looks. it goes back to the saying "don't judge a book by its cover"

The formatting isn't very effective, and since you are trying to advertise your idea, effective presentation is key to success. You can use tables to organize the hero info and make the title for each section stand out. As well, using bullets to shorten giant paragraphs can go a long way in increasing readers and thus people who are interested.

the paragraphs arn't long at all, it's just thats theres many paragraphs so it looks bigger than it really is, also the heroes take up quiet some space too. it really dosn't take that long to read.

edit: two threads merged, now its an even BIGGER wall of text >_>

Yea, you have a poor attitude when it comes to presentation and you turn down two good offers of advice.
