Hello, I use Windows 7 with the following computer specs: Intel i7 920 2.66Ghz 9Gb DDR3 RAM GeForce GTX 260 1 TB HDD I have one problem though, WE doesn't open my maps! When I attempt to open any map in any folder, it will merely open World Editor and no map. I am forced to do "File --> Open Map" every time. Why, and how do I fix it? Also another quick question....I wanted to open my map using the NewGen World Editor provided here, and it gives me a Warning Message: "This map has been saved by a more recent version of the editor. It may contain data which are not supported by this version. Continue loading map?" Why am I getting this message and what happens if I open it? I'd like to start trying to learn JASS slowly, so I might as well use the best editor for it I thought. |

have a similiar system (more ram (12 GB), hdd (2 tb), cpu (2x i7 860) and gpu (2x ATI 5800) and the same problem. I think it's related to win7 and blizzards stupidity. I think that's something that can't be fixed... Quote:
this message comes, cause jngp is based on and older version of we. you can simply ignore this message, i hadn't any problemes related to this so far. |

Ya, it's kind of annoying, but w/e. =/ I even tried going to properties and checking some stuff. I check "Run as Admin", and then I tried opening a map with "Compatibility Mode" for every other windows, but none worked. Alright, i'll try NewGen with a copy of my map, and look for any possible changes. |

Damn. I was about to change to Win7. If it's impossible to use the WE I might stick to XP after all! |

He just means it's impossible to get WE to open a map by double clicking on the map (it just opens the editor). |

Ah, riiight. I always work on the same map anyways. Win7 it is, then :) |

I have Windows 7 and double-click maps to open them all the damn time. Though I did an in-place upgrade from Vista, so it could be a modern registry issue I side-stepped with that one. |

I also have all the stuff Footys posted but they aren't such a problem for me (and I'm a XP user). I mean, I don't mind starting the editor from the .exe and doing File -> Open... Also, that "This map has been saved by a more recent version of the editor" etc. message shouldn't trouble you - just click Yes and continue with the map opening and it shouldn't give you any problems at all. |
