Ok I am a total modding newb. so as I do not know if i will ever complete this feel free to use one of the ideas I am going to descripe if you like it. Basically battles in warcraft are much to short for my taste and the unit production is to unoriginal, So back when I played WC3 for the first time I thought up some game of my own. I am mixing production systems I thought up back then with ideas how to make battle more a series of multiple engagements of the same army and having enough battletime to use all those nifty spells , abilities your units have. 1 To enable a small force to hold of the enemy while the rest flees to safety, melee attack cause a 70% slow on the enemy , oneself and in a small splash radius. 2 To prevent concentrated fire, so that large armies can not overpower small armies to fast, range attacks change get a standard 65% miss , however if they miss they short range bouce to a nearby target this process is repeated 4 times, additionally to implement friendly fire also friendly units can be the targets of these bounces. 3 To help coordination of troops there might be so called battle plans, basically units could commit to a certain battle standard , and instead of activating different unit types abilities seperately you could combine them all into a battle plan. Once you activate the battle plan all those abilities, spells of the commited units get triggered, Production systems: Undeads: -They have necromancers that create troops from souls, corpses. (they create temporary summoning circles, enough corpses have to be within for the required unit) - When Undeads die units return 1 corpse + number of souls for their creation. (means basic units a re basically recyclable) -They have a limited upgradeable stationary realm and small buildable and destroyable mobile realms. If they leave the realm they die within seconds, if something dies within it they get souls (theres is a soul maximum) -They get corpse wagons to transport and place corpses -They have one main unit(hero), every time he is killed their stationary realm loses 1 level upgrade and the main hero transforms into an invulnerable unit with no attack and teleport for a short duration. They lose the game when the statoionary realm lelvel is reduced to 0 Faeries: - Wild faeries with a limited lifetime spawn on the map(visible for all faerie players) these can either be collected manually or faerie trees can be build that collect all wild faeries in a certain radius and teleport them to the tree. Collected faeries become faerie childs which are stable, permanant. -These faeries gain Xp when near a faerie queen or a faerie noble, once they have enough xp they can transform into certain units -They faeries lose when the faerie queen and all faerie nobles are dead, note that the faerie queen can be revived in a faerie tree after a certain number of faerie children get collected. -Faeries probably will have the lowest unit maximum, in exchange they will be the most mobile: good movement speed, best sight, teleportation buildings(Faerie rings), buidings are invisible if you do not come very close. Also faeries will be able to collectively build/grow some slow moving but strong units with limited timespan(like a collective summon) Humans: -They recruit workers from farms and then train them for a certain time and gold cost into units, or build new farms with them. -They can build keeps and support wagons, both collect food from farms in a certain radius(with a maximum number of farms one of them can collect from), both distribute it in a certain radius Feeding works as follows, all units have food stacked in their itemslot, they consume one unit at regulary intervalls, if they stack is not at maximum they will get provisions from the keep of wagons. if they have no food left they begin to take starvation damage until they die. -They can mine for gold or sell food for gold -They can hire mercenaries which consume gold over time additional to their food needs -For some units the keep has to be upgraded - They get one hero(strong unit that chooses 3 abilities from 6 and has inventory) for every keep or keep upgrade. -They have they highest unit maximum but have to spread somewhat to protect different farms and keeps(remember a keep can only collect food from alimited amount of farms) - Keeps have to be a certain distance from each other( to enforce spread) -Humans lose if they have no keep or wagon left. Giants and lycanthropes -Giants and lycanthropes are about food, they constantly consume food, if they have enough food stored they can birth a new giant, lycanthrope or upgrade themself. -All giants are heroes: inventory space , abilities etc. In fact giants are all about few but strong units. - Giants and lycanthropes can steal food from farms or keeps, they can also eat units and corpses. - They lose if all units are dead. - Giants can mine Gold and buy equipment. - Lycanthropes are extremely cyclic(only regen mana during night? or every 4th night?(full moon), can use certain transformations during night) |
