Help on map loading screen needed

Here is a short description of the problem:
we're working on a W3 campain (quit long project, for now) with friends, lots of maps are already ongoing, but there is still one thing that we cannot do (we simply did not find where to do that...)

Where can we change that map loading screen*, which means add our own map loading image (and not standard campains screens, like the drake or any "human-map1", which is a standard map attribute)...

*what I call map loading screen is that yellow screen with minimap and the blue status bar

If anyone knows how to do that, we'd be sooooooooo happy to be helped, cause this standard loading screen is not adapted to our wishes.

PS: no answer was found in the FAQ, neither on battle.net forum for map creation...

Thanx in advance.

Um, I think you gotta know some stuff about editing the .mpq file to do that...

I hope they have implemented the possibility, I don'want to have to upload/download hundreds of Mbytes for a single map, just because of some graphic changes...

Anyways thanks for the answer ;) , if anyone has another idea, please tell me

I've had the same problem, man; I've taken to just using the 'generic' one, since it just shows the world map. I'm pretty sure now that you can't change it unless you go into the mpq, rip out one of them, modify it to what you want, then reinsert it.

How large is the file size of a splash screen anyways? Blizzard probably didnt allow people to use custom splash screens because it would drastically increase the size of the maps. Just some thoughts, not sure if I'm right...

My cool 3D rendered world will not be in the game, what a pity... These are 640*480 JPG images (size<100Kb) Well, then I'll use the (...) standard screen...:(

It works like it was described -- open mpq, find file, extract, change, re-insert in your .w3m with same name. But it works as far as I know.

And no -- blizzard didn't make any decisions based on how much bigger it would make the maps. They just set a cap on how big a map could be sent over bnet (4MB).

in this case, anyway, the file won't be inclued in the map data, so there is no point in doing this :) or am I completely wrong? MPQ are fixed program data, which cannot be shared (too heavy)

If it was possible to include the data in the map file, I'd really be interested to know how, even if I understand that it seems impossible to be done...

no tried that and it wont work (duh, its logical, data files in w3m must be loaded first, and hence cannot be done in the loading screen (because there is when its laoding the data)). Of course you can make an graphic pack which should include them, but putting in w3m itself is NOT possible

for the answer, and your explanation is completely logical... I'll use the normal graphic pack :)

Adding graphic might be possible?!?

Dataangel incorparating a custom splash screen doesn't work as its considered one of the things loaded when game starts. However you can create a custom minimap based on the ? picture if thats good enough it has to be TGA with certain transparencies.
