OVERVIEW Quote:
Chasm is defence/pvp map centered on melee style gameplay. Build a base, train defenders and survive the onslaught of the chasm's inhabitants. Last team standing wins. GAMEPLAY You may build your base anywhere but a Refinery structure must be placed upon lava tileset in order to earn income. Killing monsters and players also give cash. Lava is indicated on the minimap, except for the western plain where it freely flows out of the ground. Your main unit is the Explorer, he is your basic builder and lifeline. Your Outpost, which functions as a main base can ressurect dead explorers. If you lose both the outpost and the explorer you lose. This map isnt final but is fully "complete" in the sense that all the features and basic content works. |

A very well made map. Even though the concept isn't very attractive, the gameplay experience is very enjoyable. Error Report: There is no Inventorium in the buildings that the worker can build even though it is a requirement to upgrade the watch tower into acid tower. It says in its tool tip that can be upgraded into more specialized walls, but there is no such upgrade anywhere. You can revive unlimited number of captains from the hero's guild (heroes are usually summoned the first time they are built, and then they are revived every time they are killed. The captain's tool tip says revive from the beginning and you can revive him over and over again) until you summon a field marshal and the captain is gone! You can't build (revive) new captains but you can still revive the ones you already built if they die. Personal notes: The terrain is very good. Why there is a gold mine on fissure when there is no mention to it in the tool tip? Did you use it so that it would show on the map? I spent a while trying to figure out how to get the workers to gather the gold until I gave up and discovered that I must build a refinery on it for income increase (it does say that refinery should be built on lava, but the lava inside the fissure is hard to see because of the doom spell effect you've placed in them). Maybe you can change that to something else or add (and fissures) at the end of the refinery tool tip. The refineries can be built anywhere, but they blow up if they are not on lava which can give you some angry players when first time played. Team one is at an advantage (especially the teal player) since they are closer to the lava rich western are. And even though I expected a big monster protecting the area to balance things out (big money is always protected by big monsters) and even though there are some small rock golems near some fissures, there was nothing around the western area! What are the summoning crystals there for? They are practically impossible to destroy (unless you use a cheat) and I think they do nothing. The second expedition has the same units as the first one, I was hoping for two different races to make things better (dwarfs and humans Vs. goblins and ogres). You are going to upgrade this, aren't you? I'd love to help. |

Well for some reason the quote function isnt working for me so Ill have to answer to you may be a little random. Thaks for reporting the Captain issue, Ill get fixing it right away. The Acid tower techtree is actually unfinished and I accidentally added it in before completing it hence the Inventorium cannot be found. The income systen is really iffy atm. I want it such that it forces people to expand and not simple camp. This is by no means the final version of it. Infact the standard wc3 goldmine system could work quite well for this map. It even makes sense aesthetically. The summoning crystals are homebase for the monsters, they intended to be effectively unkillable and spawn defenders to prevent people from simply camping the monsters as they spawn. As for a second race, the "design" of chasm is kinda such that players can so called "specialise into subraces that support a certain startegy. Currently there are 2 subraces with a 3rd in production. Infantry - Based around mobility and geared for pvp combat, main building is barracks. Machines - Based around defence and towers, main building is Ironworks The last race which Ive termed support until a better name can be found is centered around buffs/ debuffs and is Build at Inventorium. Infact I may make it such that your outpost upgrades to Barracks/Ironworks to make specialisation more apparent. Players probabbly should have an option to downgrade and respec for a cost. Lastly if you are really keen on this Im willing to hand over the map to you once Im done fixing the iossues such as the captain thing and such. |

By hand it over you mean: a- You can join me as a team in upgrading this map into its best possible form. b- You can upgrade it on your own since I don't want to put anymore effort than I already have. I'd rather (a) since I have another project that is taking most of my time. |
