World Editor eat up your resources like nothing, I found a way to get around it IN WE. Send 99.99 to FyreDaug and I'll give you the answer!! (lol I know, corny) Anyways, close Trigger,Unit,Sound and whatever module you have going and be in the main window. Hold down CONTROL and use mouse up, it covers your map in a black mask, thus not allowing animations to be seen so it saves your resources. To reverse this use control and mouse down. I've known how to do this for quite a while now, but I didnt know it did this. Usually when my WE is on my CPU usage is at 100% all the time, now its at like 2-8%, it also seems to speed up quite a bit |

Thats odd, for me just mini-mizing everything brought my cpu usage down to always under 10 %.... |

Guest | WE doesnt use too many resources unless you have over 1000 trees, then it gets just plain UGLY. |

Guest | Dont show off! Ill just modify your post a tiny bit to not show off... |

lol nice modification random :D If you dont want it to eat cpu, get a good gfx card so most of the burdon is on that, and minimize whatever your not working on. For me, its only 'choppy' when I switch from one edit module to the other, or when I edit lots of terrain... stupid terrain. |

I've got a top end system, its not the card, if you have windows XP hit ctrl+alt+del to bring up the menu, make it hide when minimized then load up WE, the resource bar is always at 100% |

I just tried now, and heres my results on a 128x128 full map, over 2000 doodads, varied terrain, sevral triggers, etc etc. BTW, this is Windows 2000, GeForce 2 MX agp card, and ONLY 833mhz Athlon cpu. CPU Usage: Minimized: ZERO, NIL, NADA, NONE When viewing unit/water animations: 25 - 40 When moving around with r click - anywhere from 40-90, but very responsive Editing terrain when zoomed FAR out - 60 - 100 In conclusion, check your system configuration - I'm only on a 833mhz and still have a responcive system. And when it minimizes, it drops to zero - rememebr that ;) |

No, my system is completely responsive, but my CPU usage is always at 100% |

Depending on your cpu it'll report usage differently. Also less RAM = more virtual memory management = more CPU use. |

512 ddr and usually 100+ free when working in WE |
