drol's TD a robust, basic and fun tower defense v1.16 release _____________________________________________________________________________________________ IntroductionWorked on this map for a couple of weeks. It's a tower defense map, quite like others but very solid and fun. I would like to have some feedback on it. Its pretty balanced if I say so myself, so check it out! _____________________________________________________________________________________________
GameplayThe objective of the map is to prevent waves of creeps from running to the portal. You can use towers to kill, slow, stun or in any other way stop them. _____________________________________________________________________________________________

I played your map and i have to say it was pretty good but, that doesn't it didn't have problems. First the terrain changer only worked once, or it only worked for snow. Second flying creeps seemed to take shortcuts away from the initial creep path. last i seemed to lose lives even before creeps enter the portal. But, it was good little map and best of luck to you on any other maps you make. |

Solid terrain, appropriate zoom. I did not see a research center right away, ping it for the user at the beginning of map. Builder is NOT a flying unit! I LOVE THIS. You did not abuse custom icons and models, this is a big plus. Towers have display range feature, yay. Nice tower upgrade effects, so rarely seen, great job. B+Q is very bad hotkey combination for tower building, I was very surprised by this. B+T is standard, besides T is much closer to B than Q is. Similarly B+H for hero tower instead of B+W When first invisible wave spawns: Give more warnings or new players can miss them totally. Use both alarm sounds and display warning messages to player. Upgrading a tower drops the items to the groud, this can be fixed with one simple trigger, I was surprised you did not do it. Gold coins and other perishable items should be used automatically. Just picking up items gets monotonous after some time. Make it so 4 same items can be combined into level 2 item. Do NOT use random item recipes, it would be too complicated, combine only same items. Bad message: Only heroes can pick up items. Should be: Only towers can pick up items. (set this in game interface texts) Put some terrain markers, so player understands why flying creeps take turns in certain places. (This would be a great spot to place building blocker, rock or a tree, or something unique) Nature skill needs a better icon, poison orb is misleading. "Sell Tower" icon is not good, use demolish button for this. Demolish does not have active icon by default but you can do this: Extract ReplaceableTextures\PassiveButtons\PASBTNDemolish.blp with Wc3 Image Extractor II (extract it as .jpg image) Than use wc3borderizer to generate active version of the icon. Note that if you import active icon in path: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNDemolish.blp you do not have to import disabled icon because it will use the default passive icon of the standard passive demolish button. (you probably did not need this long explanation, heh) I really don't like gold generator. Just throw it away, it is a bad concept, it brings nothing to the gameplay. Basic Hero Tower should say on tooltip in big colored letters: YOU CAN HAVE ONLY ONE HERO TOWER. In my opinion hero towers are not worth the skill points you need to invest in them, it is better to use many different tower types. I think you should remove the basic hero tower tooltip, and make some boss drop a tiny hero tower item. The 3 doodads in upper-left are too close together and block very important building area, I was very annoyed by them, just delete 2 rocs, and leave the palm tree. All in all a very solid game, with a lot of potential. |
