Blood Elf Caster dude

Been making this guy over the last couple of days to get back into modeling. The mesh is scratch made and uses no custom textures... On that note, there's no Spellbreaker texture used anywhere and I only used Hero_Bloodelf.blp for the ears because nothing else matched the skintone D:

So yay for originality :P

The dress is lame, I know. I'm going to replace it with a longcoat or something similar when I get the chance.

Nice. Hope you'll finish this one. :P
Would've loved to see it with a custom skin, though. The Dreadlord texture is blurry.

Looks really good. I can't wait to see it finished (if I ever will :P).

Haha, yeah my track record for getting things finished and released ain't all that great :P The other two models I was working on "recently" (last year... but still on the first page in the Modeling forum) won't be finished because they were on my old computer when it died without backups. Dusk might have a copy of them somewhere, maybe.

Quick update to the mask :>

Looking good. What plans do you have for the weapon (if there's going to be one)?

Not sure about the weapon, it'll depend on what I end up doing for the animations. Staff or sceptre/mace are looking like possibles at the moment.

Bam, now he has legs.

Also an ingame shot for comparison.

I liked that ninja. :(

Regarding the model, are you using the Varmiathras texture, or just the regular Dreadlord texture?
Nonetheless, the skirt-robe-thing looks kind of strange with all of that black on it. Looks like it should be alpha'd out, one way or another.
Same goes for the mantle behind his head.

I agree with deolrin, too much black, but I'd change the color of either the chestplate or of the pants instead.
Othen than that? It's badass. I'm very curious about which animations you'll gonna end up using.

It's not the actual black color that bothers me, it's the fact that it looks like it's supposed to be teamcolored. It looks like a teamcolored part of the texture, set to "none".

Aye, that's the problem; since the robe is from an unused section of the Tichondrius texture (since alpha version WC3), there's no team colour. The mantle is supposed to have alpha but having teamcolour there is overwhelming to the composition as a whole. Nothing I can do about it, frankly I'd appreciate TC on the bracers as well but with no custom texture work, beggars can't be choosers. My objective in all of this is simply to use Tichondrius' armor on a Blood Elf, due to similar aesthetics.

It'll look better with team glow, an awesome weapon and animations, I promise :)

On that note, I'll probably either use Furion's animations or (ideally) animate it myself since I really need the practice :P

could you do some messy chop work and simply change some of the black polys to team colored ones from another texture or area of the ticonderous one?

That would get really messy, and end up taking more effort and polygons than it's worth :(

Today's update: New bracers and weapon!

Awesome, but the weapon looks too chubby and fat, in my opinion.

Yeah, I agree with the above. The weapon shouldn't be as massive (and just big) as it currently.

Edit: Missed the new bracers (awesome but large staff stole my attention): I like them, especially the addition of TC.
