IRC appears to be down

The site's irc server appears to be down. I am unable to connect to it with both ChatZilla and the site's JavaChat client. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Edit: We now have a new temporary server, see my last post for more details.

i never use it so i don't remember how to connect to it from the site but if you give me a link I'll try it.

Same here, regular mIRC gives me a timeout message and the java client gives me this "startup error : java.lang.error: unable to load interface pixx : java.lang.securtiyexception: trusted loader attempted to load sandboxed resource from http://www.wc3c.net/pixx.jar" So I'm pretty sure the IRC server is down.

Nah, you get that error if you block something that Java needs (I get a popup window asking me whether I want to block that stuff due to security concerns, but for you it might get blocked automatically). Once I unblocked the thing, the Java chat loaded, but timed out when connecting tot he IRC server.

I get the same thing—IRC is definitely down.

I get 2 pop ups when I start the java client but I allow both, NoScript don't block anything and AdBlock aint blocking anything either.

IRC is down. I therefore move that we create a thread and call it the IRC channel.

Do you allow both or do you just click "yes" to both? The second one asked me whether I want to keep blocking it, not whether I want to unblock it.

The problem is that irc was on a different server over which Tim. doesn't really have any control. It might take some time for the irc to be set up again.

Ah you were correct, the first message stated that there is an error in the digital signature, and the second one about security risks, only read the headline and didn't bother with the rest.

How come you don't have a backup IRC channel on one of the other servers?

Naw, 3C is blocked at my work (and so are all the proxies) so I can't.

... but IRC is now blocked at work too, so this only affects me at home. :(

Main problem with no IRC is we can't plan evil schemes with Anitarf as the secret mastermind.

Since the irc server does not appear to be coming back any time soon, I set up a couple of temporary channels over at wyldryde that we can use. The server address is irc://irc.wyldryde.org and the channels are #wc3c, #sc2c and #wc3dev.
