After listening to a few HoMM(Heroes of Migth and Magic) soundtracks, and also being a huge fan/player of HoMM myself, I was thinking all of a sudden; why not try and bring that kind of spirit into the Warcraft III Game? Of course it will not be fully like HoMM, with interactive bases and all that, but I was thinking like, with an almost-similar Tech Tree System and Unit Upgrade System, such as the one from HoMM 3 or 5. I am not saying I will make this into a project or anything, it's just an idea I have, but if anyone would feel like contributing to this idea with models/ideas/support, feel free to do so! Who knows, I might actually start and make it, and even if I live in Europe, I hope that would not be too much of a problem if you now catch on this idea. Right now, I only have a slight idea for the Human/Knight Unit Line-up, and I think it would be best with something similar to the HoMM 3 Line-up; Pikeman -> Halberdier Archer -> Marksman/Crossbowman Griffin -> Royal/Battle Griffin Swordsman -> Master Swordsman/Crusader Monk/Bishop -> Zealot/Arch-Bishop Cavalier -> Champion/Paladin Angel -> Arch-Angel And the Heroes should/could also be divided into Might and Magic categories, so there's one class that uses melee attacks and "skills", and the other uses ranged attacks and spells. I dunno, it's just an idea I have, but I'd be happy to see someone give me more ideas. Note: The "/" in some unit categories are just for alternative name suggestions. |

Alright, so I have chosen a map where I will experiment with the idea I had. Credits goes to Blood Raven from The Hive Workshop for the map, and I will make sure to put in Credits for the models I will use. I may or may not put in a link to download the map later. Could someone at least tell me if this idea is good or bad? |

really, really hard to tell at this point. you've given us a vague idea but it really comes down to execution. if it interests you give it a try. |

Thanks, I will give it a try! Oh, and just to clarify a point, for those who have played HoMM: No, sadly to say, this will NOT feature one building for each creature, since it would drastically have to cut down the cost of each building, and then the resources would be used to spam a lot of creatures, so I will have multiple creatures in one and the same building in some cases. |

At first I thought this map would actually play like HoMM, but it seems like it's just a HoMM themed melee game? Pity. I am tempted to start a project that actually plays like HoMM, but I'd never finish it. Best of luck with your map. |

Yeah, I WAS first thinking of it to play like HoMM, but a friend of mine tipped me with saying that, if the game would play like HoMM, the buildings would have to be cut down cost-wise, leading to that there would be a load of left-over resources for the player to use, and what do you usually do with a load of resources left? Spend it to spam soldiers, of course. And I don't want any spamming of soldiers, so therefore I had to cut it down to a HoMM themed melee game. |
