hi

i want to present my wc2/sc:bw like altered melee Warcraft2,5 Map for Warcraft3 TFT

-faster gameplay like in Starcraft , Warcraft 2 or Armies of Exigo
-units have less hp and are faster
-units are produced faster but techs are slower (like in starcraft)
-it has the same armor and damage system like starcraft (light,medium and heavy armor//normal, medium and heavy damage)
-no heroes

at the moment only human and orcs are full playable, nightelve is in development but you can allready try them

PS : remember ONLY ORC AND HUMAN ARE PLAYABLE also there is NO AI (you have to play it vs a friend)

V0.9c with some minor fixes
its also an testing version of the nightelves included (on LT)
the next Version will be with full playable nightelves but feel free to try the testing map

* no catapults? are you kidding?
* knights do NOT upgrade to paladins.
* ogres do NOT upgrade to ogre-mages.
* 3 types of air units? redundant much.
* 4 types of magic units? gtfo.
* invisibility aura? gtfo
* Humans have 3 types of units in barracs, orcs have 5?
* all archer upgrades should be in lumber mill, not in barracks and blacksmith
* stables have church sound?

In short this game has 0% of gameplay similarity with warcraft 2.
It is just random wc2 models with some random wc3 spells.
Overall impression: confusing.

its not a remake
its a mix between wc2 and broodwar
no water units - maybe i will add 1-2 maps with water and water units
no catapults! iam not kidding! orcs dont need catapults they have alot of units that are strong vs static defenses like ogres or sappers
no paladins and ogre mages - the first versions had them but i was not able to give them skills with good purpose and the balancing was hard
3 types of air units - they all have different purpose
4 types of magic units - yes but the templars have no purpose right now they suck ... i have to redesign them
invisibility aura - yes why not?
Humans have 3 types of units in barracs, orcs have 5? - terrans have 4 units in the barracks (1 without purpose the ghost so they have 3) protoss has 4 units in the barracks its no remake so i can change the amount of units
all archer upgrades should be in lumber mill, not in barracks and blacksmith - true i thought about that but its hard to balance that cause the lumber mill is too cheap for an weapon upgrade building so i didnt change it yet
stables have church sound? - possible i didnt change the sound yet

And that is why it does not work.

I don't understand why no one simply makes a complete 100% clone of wc2,
it would be 100 times more popular than all this mixes.

why should it not work? you never played it vs someone right?
a 100% clone of wc2 is nearly impossible cause its very hard to set up a 3rd resource (oil) also the balance in wc2 was broken orc >>>>> human
this is the best remake but it was never finished Warcraft 2 2nd generation 1.21b (search for it on wc3c) but it doesnt work with the actual tft version

Oil is just one resource type, it does not prevent you from having ships, just use gold and lumber.

And anyone claiming that orcs were stronger than humans obviously did not play wc2 outside campaign.
heal, flame shield and dragon polimorf.

Besides once a wc2 clone was set up it would be much easier to tweak it to be properly balanced than to balance some random altered melee.

I was actually planning on doing a wc2 clone (some time in the future when I get the time for it)
Here is how I would do it:
  • First I would install wc2.
  • Than I would create a flat map and import all wc3 models created for wc2 over the years.
  • Than I would simply copy unit stats from wc2 editor to wc3 editor
  • Than I would make all wc2 upgrades needed
  • Than I would copy techtree dependencies from wc2 to the map
  • Finally I would make all wc2 spells

I know that a 100% clone is not possible, there is no oil, and armor and magic systems are different, but I would make it 99% similar and anyone who player wc2 would have ZERO things to learn when playing this map.

I would NOT make AI, it is a waste of time, if game is not good enough to be played human vs human making AI is just idiotic.

Than after people played it enough the things that need to be balanced would become obvious and I would balance the game by changing upgrade costs or spell stats, but not by adding anything new.

If someone else decided to make a proper wc2 clone before I get around to doing it I would even be willing to be secondary on the project. The only requirement I would have is for a map to be open-source.

I would even make an oil-refinery resource system. (believe me I can do this)

And than after everything is done I would make a batch program to automatically import the mod into any melee map I want.

rofl YOU are the one never played wc2 on battlenet sry i play the game on wc2combat and yes iam not pro at it but everyone at wc2combat knows that orc >>>> human

Map being possible to play is not the same as map being desirable to play.

its not desirable for you which is ok but dont talk like noone likes it

No, everybody knows that wc2 orcs are just easier to play, because you only have to use one spell. Humans absolutely rule in end game.
(That is in any game that gets beyond pure ogre vs knight brawl)
PS: try winning with orcs in any island map.
