Well, woop-de-doo, this forum hasn't seen much activity [and probably won't still] But anyway. I started a similar texture a week [?] ago, but being easily discouraged, I deleted it afterwards. So now here I go again. [I liked the face on the first one better still.] ![]() ![]() |

Looking good. :) |

How come he has no hat in the first image? :) |

The portrait model has no hat. EDIT: What the hell. I'm pretty much stuck because no colour scheme I attempt looks right in any way. So, suggestions? ![]() |

I think you could make the green or the red one work if the shoulder pads also had some colour... would need to change the texture for the shoulder pads, though, unless you instead decided to make all metal parts have some colour (not as strong as gold, though). |

The shoulderpads, upper chest and upper arms are crammed with detail, making it look busy and confusing. You need to make big, bold areas stand out, like Arthas' pauldrons for instance. You should also make sure you have a visual break between them (for example, toned down colours and textures). Otherwise, it's not going to be readable when you're zoomed all the way out. I kinda like the muted red and gold on this one. You'd want stronger colours on the important areas like the shoulders and weapon, though. Using pure grayscale doesn't work so great in such a colourful environment as WC3, it looks sterile and out of place. Some really subtle colour on the face and hair would help, imo. |

As I quite like the shoulders like they are, the next thing I could change was the chest. ![]() does this work better? :\ |

Much better! Imo, do the same for the boots, at least part of them. Oh, and recolor the leather\cloth to green, like here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38169390/bleh01.jpg Then maybe add a tiny bit of a green hue to the metal(only a tiny bit). And then, IMO, you'll have yourself the perfect and finalized texture. :D |

Noted, but I honestly don't think it's gonna get across what I'm aiming for. E.g Vampire and/or Undead. So I'm quite open to colour scheme suggestions. |

Don't forget that it's going to be about this big in-game. If you're happy with that much room between the teeth for team colour, that's fine. His sword needs some badassification, imo. As for colours, here's a pretty basic setup you could try: EDIT: If you're looking for inspiration, this might be helpful :) |

That looks just about right, and pretty damn awesome, too. Why can't I come up with proper colour schemes? :( |

I've been trying to finish writing a tutorial on composition for most of this year but personal things have gotten in the way :( Suffice to say, you need to make the weapon, shoulders, head and other major elements (in that order) stand out through stronger colours, contrast and detail than other parts of the model. Keep it simple, clean and epicbadass and you'll work wonders :) Also, have a good read of colour theory and the colour wheel while you're at it (or revise it if you already have). |

You ought to finish that tutorial. It would make people's lives easier. |
