Only sometimes

Why is it that after editing button positions or spells, and you start the SAME map lets say 10 times, some of those times it will not work. Why does it only work sometimes?

A most strange encounter. If you are using the "test map" function built in to the wc3 editor. Don't. It has tendancies to reset variables, screw up sound and much more. However if you were trying the map by clicking custom games etc. then post more specifically what happened.

Nope, never have never will use Test Map function. I select it in custom game before playing. It works most of the time but occasionally it just wont. If I restart it then it works. Occurs in multiple maps of mine. Sorry, don't know how to be any more specific. I have added new spells and icons though if that helps.

In order to use all of my customized spells in WE I place the necessary edited files into a folder in the WC3 folder under units. So, everything is fine while using WE. I then close the map I am editing and then embed the needed files into the map. Then I select the map from the list using custom game. Doing it in this order every time has solved this issue for me.

orion that is exactly what I do (minus the worldedit part... I have my custom spells in a folder in desktop) but the point is, it works sometimes, and after several restarts without editing the map or even closing warcraft III, it just doesn't work! This problem really sucks since the map takes ages to load. WHen I test it with some friends we have to restart it all the time until the new spells work. Why does this happen!?! if anyone can help me I'll credit you in my map.

I think I know the reason. Are you NOT using the default loading screen? If you use a custom loading screen (eg, from a campaign) then sometimes WC does not load SLK and TXT info from the map. To fix this, change the loading screen to "default" in WE.

And don't Hide the Minimap this can also cause some pbs.
