New Total Conversion in Progress (need help): Gundam Legacy

I was thinking about making a Starcraft conversion for Wc3, but too many people are trying that already, so i decided to look into other things to modify Wc3. Here's an idea I formulated: (Prepare for a long post):

1. Gundam Legacy: Knowing as how I am i big fan of Gundam, it was naturally the first thing i looked into. If anyone out there doesn't know what Gundam is, which is probably most of you, it is an anime show which has a very long and complex story that has alternate universes within it. Confused already? But to break it all down, the show features large humanoid, robot-like, vehicles known as "mobile suits" which are the standard units of military power. There are a select few of these mobile suits which are produced from a rare and exotic alloy known as "Gundanium" which have been dubbed the name of "Gundams" (which i have planned to be hero units). The reason I have named the project idea "Gundam Legacy" because there are many Univereses in The Gundam series, meaning that one part of the story may not be part of one of the others. Before I get myself confused anymore, here are the two universes I plan to use, The Gundam Universal Century (GU), and the Gundam Wing Universe(GW). The four races will be replaced with the organizations of the two unverses. These will include The EFSF (GU), Zeon (GU), The Earth Sphere Alliance or Earth Sphere for short (GW) And OZ *Organization of the Zodiac* (GW). I have planned to replace all of the Wc3 units and structures to that of which are related to the gundam universe. I would like to also implement an upgrade system that changes visual attributes on the mobile suits. On the gundams for example: Wing Gundam to Wing Zero to Wing Zero Custom or Tallgeese to Tallgeese 2 to Tallgeese 3, for a visual illustration:

each one evolving as they either level or are upgraded (which i haven't decided as of yet). Once again, I have absolutely no clue how i am going to do this or if it can even be done, but I'm sure I'll think of something =D. Maps will take place flying in space, hovering above the ocean, and running and/or walking on land. I have a few things i need your input, answers, suggestions and/or your opinion on and I give you the list below:

.Can this at all be acheived?
.If the conversion were to implement humans outside of the mobile suits should they only be pilots or should there be footmen armed with rifles or pistols as well?
.Should the humans be to scale in comparison to the mobile suits?
.If pilots and/or soldiers are implemented into the conversion should pilots be produced as well as the mobile suits? And if so, should each Gundam/Hero suit require a hero pilot for it to fight at it's maximum potential?
.(Big question) CAN I GET A MODELER, A SKINNER AND WHATEVER THE HELL ELSE I NEED?!?!?!? plz :D ?

as you probably could have guessed i dont the first thing about modeling or skinning for that matter :D . I can't do anything else outside of the Warcraft 3 editor, however i will use this to my advantage to create the maps needed for the conversion, but for anything outside of the editor I need someone else, so if you are skilled at modeling and love or are familiar with the Gundam Saga I need you. I am now currently searching for a team to get this project underway. The only current members of my project team are Me, Myself, and I who are the map makers for the conversion :D, however if anyone else wants to create maps, I would be more than happy to take them aboard. But at this time I am severly desperate for modelers, skinners, tileset designers, and whoever i need to get this conversion into Wc3 and hopefully Wc3 Multiplayer (which i am currently aiming for). I am upon completion of a few land maps for the Conversion knowing as how i do not have a space tileset as of yet, but if anyone has made or has heard that a space tileset has been completed be sure to let me know. This thread will be open for progress and new feature reports, team/assignment recruitment, opinions, and suggestions. I hope to hear from some of you soon :D .

I'm not dissing it, I am just saying I don't like it. Framing is bad, art is bad, and I hate all the cliche storyline. Just my opinion, man. Everyone is aloud an opinion.

Oh dear, someone hasn't seen Akira or Ghost in the Shell....

Your TC is possible, just as all TC's are, but it does wonders for a project if the leader has a bit of technical know how in all areas. You might wanna consider learning some before trying it.

yes, you must know how to do some various things etc before even start a project like this, which converts all modles etc. Currently im working on a tutorial about editing which should help a bit, but usually the leader of the project must know every aspect of the game =)

many projects died because the leader was lacking in a specifik skill =)

Most of this will be useless to you for a long time, but I answer both for you in the future and some for current modders who could use the (few non-gundam) tips here.

Yes. A quick note on the changing looks - required animation names. The same way the MK and DH change looks. I know you don't know what that means, but you might someday, and it will be useful then.

Well, they should be like the humans in these universes. Probably all have some weak melee attack (punching, etc), and a some could have weapons. I've seen very little gundam, but I do know that the human's power should be nothing compared suit's.

Yes, within reason. The humans should be visible, and the suit size manageable, but get close.

From what I've seen, the best way would be to have the suits be totally inactive without pilots, and any player's pilot can get in any player's suit, unless the suits have some sort of security or intelligence or something (like I said, haven't seen much gundam). To simplify things, there could be pilots in suits when the suits are built, or perhaps nearby pilots could automatically get in the suits. Different kinds of pilots (non-pilots who know jack, newbies, evasion experts, reckless pilots, etc) could affect the suit's stats/abilities. What would be interesting would be to have crappy pilots plentiful, the the real good ones so rare you can only get a few, regardless of how much money you have. But no hero pilots if gundams are heroes, as that introduces balance problems.

Can't help you now, as I don't have a modeling program and my skills aren't that great. I am working on projects of my own anyway.

I really suggest that you do a simpler mod first, just for practice, or join a team (or person) that could use your skills (World Editor/making maps), and learn from them. Also, you can take a look at some of the custom maps to see how the triggers/custom units work, and just read the forums and use the tools once you understand them.

EZ8: do a copy-paste of this thread and save it in notepad or something (after others have their say). If you are serious about this mod, this thread will probably be helpful months in the future.

Orcishspacesuit : Ic what your aiming at and I am deeply considering what you said, Orcish. having mass crappy pilots for the mass crappy suits and the badass pilots for the badass suits built in, is a very good idea that i had looked over. so now I think i will use that system and make it so that when a suit is destroyed the pilot will eject and travel on foot (unless he's in space or above the ocean, which in that case the pilot will be destroyed. And if the suit is damaged then maybe the pilot can exit the suit and begin repairs on it himself and feature repair bays or mechanics in the bases. I've posted this same thread in the modeling section of the forum and I am currently waiting for a modeler and/or skinner to volunteer. I did some experimenting in milkshape 3d yesterday to get use to the interface. I managed to create this little probe droid until i tried to dupe it's arm and then the arm kept multiplying over and over again. The modeling itself is pretty simple, however the I'm not totally familiar with the tools as of yet and if I make one mistake then its back to the drawing board. I'm about to complete a few land maps for the mod, which i will post the names of here later.

I was surfin' the net earlier today until i made the most remarkable discovery. I discovered another Gundam Total Conversion, but for Quake III with the most awesome and pretty low poly models I've ever seen.
