can it be removed from minimap so you dont get that blur, instead you get a normal unit dot? |

Well...not much of a help, but im 100% positive that it can be done. I read a tutorial on it a while back. It had to do with the skin of the hero, etc etc..... |

Guest | I don't know about on the minimap...but you can get rid of the glow on the model by using the following .blp files attached in the .zip. Unfortunately, the file size is 1.3KB for each .blp and since there are 16 of them it will add 20KB to your map. Implant all sixteen files into the folder ReplaceableTextures\TeamGlow\ Hope that helps... |

interesting, i though the glow was part of the model, nice to know its not though. |

so if you use the neutral hostile/black color it doesnt show up in minimap at all? or just the glow? |

The glow.mdl is a particle effect attached to the model itself. It cannot be removed unless you edit the model's .mdl file. I believe the glow files that Sid67 have posted are those which are used on the minimap to indicate where a hero is. Changing a hero to either neutral hostile or neutral passive does not remove the glow at all. It may appear to be removed at some points but that is simply the way it blends in with that particular terrain. Hope that solves all the 'mystery of the glow' questions :ggani:. ~kharma |

Hmmm, I'd considered this hardcoded before, but looking in Image Extractor, in the UI/minimap directory, there's a file minimaphero.blp. It happens to be a black square (about the right size), but I bet somehow team color is superimposed on there. There's also a smaller black square called Teamcolor00.blp (actually, there's two, in different subdirectories) , that most likely corresponds to a normal unit on the minimap. Replacing the hero one with a copy of the unit one *might* give you what you're trying for. |
