Command Switches

aL Doom
I was browsing in some of the other forums and i found them. They might be very usefull for mod creation and stuff. I didn't see them here so here they are:

-d3d: Loads the game using a Direct 3D engine. The default I presume.

-opengl: Loads the game using an OpenGL engine. Use this either if you are having problems with the D3D engine, or if your video card is faster with OpenGL. Also can be nice if your card supports Anti-Aliasing in OpenGL etc.

-swtnl: Loads the game using a software T&L engine. I guess this should only be used if you're having problems with the above 2.

-loadfile "Maps\File.w3m": Simply loads the game straight into the map specified. Also seems to change the profile straight to "WorldEdit", and this is the switch used to test maps straight from the World Editor.

-gametype: Presumably, you can use this to set the game type when you use the loadfile above. I haven't played with this yet, and I'm not sure what you are supposed to pass it - possibly the strings like in blizzards scripts - ie. GAME_TYPE_MELEE etc, but again, untested and unsure.

-datadir: This is the switch that I'm most interested in, but I haven't got it working yet. I've played for a couple of hours trying to get it to work. I can only presume this lets you set the directory from which the game data is loaded, and so would allow for mods in different directories of the Warcraft III base directory - ala. Quake etc. If someone can shed some light on this, that would be excellent! Now, we just have to get Blizzard to make Battle.net grab the mod name from the game script..

Well, I hope this helps some people, and I hope someone can help with the -datadir switch. It would encourage me much more to write mods for Warcraft III.

Thanks to Telumehtar for posting it in War3pub forums.

Hope it helps
