It is actually a tough process if you don't know where to begin. Here are the programs you WILL need. 1. War 3 Image Extractor (converts tga to blp and blp to tga) 2. Paint pro program to edit the pictures 3. WINMPQ to add pictures to your map Download all these from warcraftiii.net or umsmaps.com or look on download.com for paint pro. First of all open up war 3 image extractor and extract a picture you want to replace Lets pretend it's BTNPeasant.blp and you extract it as BTNPeasant.tga Now, put this BTNPeasant.tga in Warcraft III\ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNPeasant.tga You will need to create these folders. Now, open BTNPeasant.tga with Paint pro. Select your picture (must be 64x64) copy it... and paste as TRANSPARENT over the peasant picture. Then save it as BTNPeasant.tga in the commandbuttons folder. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE COMPRESSION DISABLED! You wil have to change that when you save, as compression is on by DEFAULT. If you compress - it won't work. Now that the changed BTNPeasant.tga is in your commandbuttons folder - open it up with War3 image extractor. Save the image as BTNPeasant.blp in your commandbuttons folder. Then boot up WINMPQ and open up your map. Select ADD file and double click on BTNPeasant.blp. When it asks what directory type this in EXACTLY ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\ then exit WINMPQ and boot up war3 to test your map. Have fun - most of my icons are custom made :D |
