size of sound file?

i diecided to ask this question here cause in the sound foums it takes them a while to reply(not to be mean or any thing).

how much space does a sound file take up in a map?

lets say that the size is umm, about, 1,202 KB.

would that lag my game like hell?

As far as I can tell, large sounds won't lag the map itself, merely the *download* of the map. Try to make your music as short as possible:
-use only a single loop
-make the bitrate as low as it can go without sounding crappy

Try Sonic Sound Forge, they have a evaluation copy out there somewhere, search google.

If you are importing thru world editor its also automatically compressed fairly well. Its part of the mpq compression. But be warned for some reason mpq2k isnt compressing for me. When i want to make a "good" version (small size but with sounds in it) i have to manually do each file in another program.

A little off topic but Monkey-Kid, is that a warhamer conversion? And if it is, did you do that? It looks like it was originally the Orion model but if you did the conversion, excellent job. It's really good.

Yeah, I know now that Blizzard made it. The whole bit about it being Blizzard's newest action figure really gave it away.

Orion is a Demi God, King of the Wood Elves in the World Of Warhammer. There's way too much to really tell you. You'd have to research it.
