When I try and put custom spells into a map I'm working on, the game lags intesly. You can't even control units the lag is so bad, and many times you have to force quit warcraft 3. I know I've edit the spells correctly and added them to the map correctly. Does anyone know what could be causing the map lag? |

Whats your internet connection? It might because of that. |

i have no idea. this has never happened to me before... |

I've been testing this offline, so it has nothing to do with my connection, or my comp speed. (1.7 ghz 512mb ram) Also the map is kinda "slow" in world edit. When you place a doodad or make a terrain adjustment or something it takes a little extra time to do it. |

Guest | It could still be your internet connection since you're testing it offline. Unless your connection is DSL or higher in which case I don't have a clue. What I would do is take out the custom spells (just don't add in the .slk and .txt files) and test it again to see if it lags. If it doesn't ... well, then you maybe you have too many spells? :bgrun: |

The map has zero lag without the spells, and I only have 3 edited spells in right now. I don't even have txt files in yet.... I'm taking out stuff that might lag the map and seeing if it helps... SoOOO fRUSTRATED!!! |

First of all, Roadrunner what the hell are you talking about? It's OFFLINE, meaning no internet connection needed! And it's in the AbilityData.slk file, I couldn't tell you where since it's such a big file, but redo the entire file, jot down the information you need, but when you go to put everything back in a new file (make a new copy of the MPQ one), make sure the information you are putting in is the same, 10 changed to a 20 is fine, but .15 to 15 isn't. If there's a decimal there has to be a decimal when you modify it, unless you make it just 1, I had the exact same problem. |

Ok I decided to change just 1 thing in the slk before testing it, making it 2 images at level 1 instead of 1. The map lagged, and I had to force quit. Then I just put in an slk with no alterations, and no lag..... I find this very strange that making a 1 into a 2 for 1 ability causes lag... I'm willing to show the map to someone if they can help me. |

*sigh* I still have the problem, I tried your advice FyreDaug, and when I put the slk in any other map it works. How could my map be lagging with the slk?! :( Oh well.... |

You are using the default loading screen right? If so, don't add any txt files to the map, just the slk, does it still lag? If so, then it's definately a problem with the slk, just redo the whole thing. If it doesn't lag then there's a typo in the txt file referring to the ability ID. |

FyreDaug- I fixed the problem. It seems that the spell editor I was using (weaadar (i don't know how to spell it)) was the cause of the problem. I am now using DaishiofDeahths editor and it works fine. |
