By unsuccessful I mean maps that a) didn't catch on b) just plain sucked because you were new, c) just plain sucked period or d) you gave up. I have about 3-5 sitting here, one is a td based off of blixels, I was too new at the time and I dont feel like redoing it. A coupla RPG maps I was working on, and an AOS style map, which is still aprtially under development. What about you? |

lol funny u ask this cause i JUST gave up on a map that i was trying to make, if u played age of empired u might know this one, its a blood map. but there was ALOT of lag, not only from me but from EVERY ONE ELSE!!!, even my friend who has like a hella fast comp. |

Guest | The way things are looking, i might have to scrap my first big effort, which has some nice features working in it, but the triggers (which lots of people said should work) which ive done multiple ways just arent behaving |

Guest | Maps created: ~10+ Maps released: 1 Maps unfinished: ~9+ The released maps were... ...my first map ...i still get mails asking for new version ..."successful" i think, even if people dont play it as much as DotA The unreleased maps were... ...just unfinished, I had no more time or fun working on them. ...nearly finished, but I learned how to create new spells and didnt wanna change the whole map or release it without custom spells. ...gone by virus -> format c: (WAAAAAH i could die...) |

I voted 7+, but thats only if you count the maps that I didn't release. I've tested them all on bnet(with a trigger to prevent anybody else from hosting it. protected of course so people don't just remove the trigger), and every single one so far had ppl saying "but where's the hero?"... I tried to get away from the idea of controlling just one hero and isntead being able to control units but nobody seems to like that idea. I finally gave in and I'm working on the next dota-style map (aos-style + custom spells =-) Every single spell is modified and every hero is different. There aren't any two spells that work the same, but a few are based on the same spells. Right now I only have 5 heros for each team, and hopefully that will be enough when I get them all ballanced because it's hard coming up with unique spells that are usefull and not over/under powered when you only have so many bases to work with. I'm just about done implementing all the spells and then I have to test and tweak them and make the map itself. Making the map should be easy because I already have it all laid out in my head. |
