Realistic and sketchy. I hate anime, eyes half the size of a face is just whacked. |

finely drawn "one-liners" and if possible they should be drawn quite weak without any sort of real pressure in the hand:D |

Guest | Realistic for President!! I think realistic drawing is the best style!! It realy shows the skill of the drawer because its the hardest style to draw... if someone can draw perfectly realistic he is the MASTER!!! |

Heres some examples of each (except "other" of course:D ). Realistic: Samwise Anime: Studio Rain Cartoony: Chris Leder from Azeroth Daily News 9 if you've heard of him) Sketchy: Tse Zhou ( another dude you probably don't know) (I didn't draw any of these so don't flame me for stealing ur pics) |

Guest | Master Samwise's concept art in my opinion wouldn't be considered realistic. It's dynamic - he exaggerates some features on the characters to exaggerate their character. Anime, in the same way uses proportionately large heads and large eyes to exaggerate certain attributes of a character. Realistic, I think, would be where you draw something exactly to scale, with all hands, muscles, etc. in proportion. |

ok just a poll... no need for criticism here. Thats just how i think of each. You can criticze my drawings but not polls. |

Guest | First: Criticism not intended (if I made any comments that sounded like it). Second: I forgot to mention that I like dynamic styles of art (Animé, cubism, Magic: the Gathering art by Richard Kane Ferguson, comic books) because you can have lots of action/movement within a still frame. |

Guest | My view is that all styles of art have their inherent value. It is silly to say one is "good" and the other is "bad". They just do different things. I put my vote down for other and I'll explain why. My vote is not for a style encompassed by a word like "anime", but is expressed rather by the name of the distinct artist who creates his or her own style. Along this line of thought my favorite artists are: 1) Masamune Shirow - Best artist ever 2) J. Scott Campbell - Second best artist ever 3) Yoshitaka Amano 4) Jim Lee While artists like Shirow and Amano may be considered "anime" artists, and while you might think of Campbell and Lee as "realistic" artists, they all can also do "cartoony" and "sketchy". |
