I think if you could make land skinned as water with no-walk boundaries painted around the edges of the land you could make it so boats could be only on water and not on the land. Just a thought. Tell me what you think.

Stuff like that has been tried; people have also made boats with the 'flying' movement type and really low fly height, then used triggers to prevent them from going on land.

So far, no water movement method is perfect. However, boats have been confirmed as a Frozen Throne feature, so we can just wait for the Xpack.

Hopefully the xpack will also have spell cast trigger too. :p

Unfortunately, TFT won't have battleboats, at least they have not told anything about this.

However, we only need the water movement type to create custom battleboats... :) Yay!

i really hope blizzard adds a detect spell trigger, however, this also brings newb problems. Just like adding a spell editor to the world editor. A whole bunch of noobs will jump on it and make shitty maps cause they have shitty unbalanced spells. I wish they didnt add spell editor so the Warcraft3campaigns higherarchy can stay up top with mapmaking

Have they said they are releasing a spell editor or is that just conjecture?

I, for one, hope they would. It would be nice to be able to make custom orders and I'm sure the file size would be a lot smaller since you wouldn't need to implant the .slk and .txt files.

Yes it has been confirmed.

Also, some guy made naval units. He made them hovering units, then edited the pathing on the water to only allow hovering.

I haven't heard anything about battleships in the expansion, but I'm guessing you'll be able to modify the transport somehow. Or maybe you'll be able to do something with the deep water creeps.

I thought of something pretty easy. As long as you don't mind flying units being able to pass through each other (which isn't such a bad thing and is actually going to happen in the beta). You can use triggers to make sure any flying unit built gets collision turned off... then make boats flying units that DONT have collision turned off. Then place invisible flying units over all the shore lines and make sure no boats can be built within the circle of flying units on land. The boats will be flying so they can go over water, but they won't go on land because they cannot move through the invisble flying units hovering over the coast. Normal flying units will have no collision, so they will be able to go over the coast even with the units there. There still lies one problem, and that's making use of mass teleport near one of these boats to make the boat go onto land (and it wont be able to go out on water again either) but you can probably find some way to fix it, or just not use mass teleport in your map.

you could make all boats flying make all land unflyable and set the air units movement type to none (ive heard this works the best)

It's basically the same as what I said but mine is easier for people who don't know how to mess with pathing. I'm not entirely sure that a movement type of NONE even works because I thought that meant the unit couldnt move at all. But if you make land unflyable AND simply turn off collision for all flying units when they are created. Only problem is that you can't BUILD the flying units over land because they won't have anywhere to come out :bgrun:

The Frozen Throne has Destroyers and Battleships. You can place them using the TFT world editor.
