I was wondering what everyone thought of this fort terrain. Tell me what you think about the design and the terraining. (Warning, the image is 371 kb, so it might take some time for 56kers.) Edit: I upload some more close up shots of the fort, tell me what you think. http://zelda.acidblue.net/vaderman/1 http://zelda.acidblue.net/vaderman/2 http://zelda.acidblue.net/vaderman/3 http://zelda.acidblue.net/vaderman/4 http://zelda.acidblue.net/vaderman/5 http://zelda.acidblue.net/vaderman/6 |

Your images are too close together, I can't tell one from another. |

Guest | It looks a little plain to me...but I don't know, sometimes people get too focused on terrain. Who cares about eye candy if the game play sucks? |

The actual layout looks pretty nice, but the terrain is a little plain. Try mixing in some other tiles, and some doodads here and there. Pretty good though. |

Guest | Looks very nice, Maybe add some weapon racks around and make like paths out of Marble or somthing that would make it look alot cooler and stop people from saying its plain, but i really like it:D |

u should add the other walls instead of the ones that u have on right now. u know the ones were it goes 'small wall end, diavonal/vertical low wall, small wall end, ect.' |

You really think I should change the walls to the small decorative ones. It wouldn't look as fortified but you can't really tell from theses screenshots, i'll post some more when I get home. On a minor note, this part of the map is 64 x 64. The entire map is 96 x 254 with this kind of terraining. Its kind of like a more intelligent castle def / helms deep type map. |

Heh, you could get a job remaking old player's guides. But yea, it is kinda plain. I guess it shouldnt be exactly stunning, but thats not even light static. |

Its quite a good map, but as said before i needs some marble paths and different tilesets, some more doodads and maybe a waterfall to make it nicer, and maybe the pics jsut not so crammed together :D Tirias |

Added six new screen shots to the top of the page of closeups of the fort. |

Sink the walls in front of the actual fort, near the "barricade" (I guess?) to make the archers be able to look over them. The little foritified area doesnt look right, I'm not sure if it should be there, but it looks nice. The short walls do look better than the actual castle walls your using. Look for my pictures of Helm's Deep and compare, but all in all, maps looks pretty nice. :D :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D :D |

Guest | I think you should ditch the rocks in front of the fort |

now that i look at the other picks of ur fort u should: 1) remove the rocks in front of the fort 2) add gates 3) make the trees more 'random' like, dont use the square tool to make the trees |

I'll think i'll keep them, i don't want to extend the fort out and they look kinda nice in game since the view is better Quote:
Umm.......Sure, look at the other screen shots before you say this. Quote:
Actually I was using the circle tool, but I see what you mean. The map is 96 x 254, so I don't want to spend forever working on the damn terraining. I think I made the northern defense of the fort a bit too deficult to get through. One you get past the first two gates and than the iron one, you arrive at a point where you can go east or west and fight your way up the ramp. I had three barracks producing one orc grunt at each every second and sending them to that intersection. After doing this for two minutes, not a single orc even got up the ramp to kill the men. Then I sent eight dozen men at one time thinking that would over power them: And here's the tail end of all the orc going up on the eastern ramp, it wasn't too successful: Need to tone it down a bit. |
