Guest | When Blizzard was talking about the demons being an imbalance if they were a playable race, I thought they were saying they were little more powerful. I just finished a level using them as my race is gee guliber they are nasty. My demon race follows about 80% to Blizzards original 3-Hero plan for them (cant reassemble the whole thing considering I dont have all the old spells or unit art). The race format I used is: Basic Units Demon Alcolyte Demon Spawn Demon Cutter Demon Hellcat Demon Burning Archer Demon Rider Demon Doom Guard Demon Wraith Demon Soul Stealer Demon Death Reverent Demon Warlock Air Units Demon Drake Demon Welp Demon Dragon Summons Wraith Infernal Heroes Dreadlord Archimonde Azgalor I had 1 mine, the other teams (Orc, Night ELf and Humans allied against me) had 2 mines a piece. I also didn't use the Dark Summoing or Rain of Inferno that are in the Hero characters and I still ate all three alive with all of them being allied against me. Sheesh. I'm glad Blizzard actualy took them out after seeing them in action. |

Guest | that is probably because the hero's have divine armor (means they are immortal vs regular units) and all their basic units had chaos attack, means full damage to any kind of armor. Go figure =) |

Guest | Where can I get a hold of the a map with the daemons as a playable race ? Even if they are strongly unbalanced it would make some fun online games. |

Guest | Its a project I am currently working on thats FAR from being finished. The map will be in beta with luck tonight and balanced by the end of the week, but balancing will only got as far as making like units virtually identical in stats. Till the map/game is balanced like a real RTS will take time. If I can find someone to host the map, I may throw it up on a site. Basically what I am doing is attempting to reform all the plausible intended races for te game. I currently have 10 races. All of them are pretty good but I lack unique buildings to make the map REALLY good (thus why I have been playing arund with MPQs so heavily). |

Well what did you expect? Once Bliz decided the BL shouldn't be playable they would have totally ignored all thoughts of balancing them as a race and only cared how they worked on the individual levels they were used on.I still find it amusing Bliz said we wouldn't be able to make the BL playable when we obviously would with the map editor as powerful as it is. What exactly do each of these units do? I never knew that much info on the BL as a race got released. Also what are you using for buildings? There's the Demon Gate and that Skull/Shrine/Warlock Tower but that's it really. Are you using the Chaos Orcs? That would make sense. There isn't really much sense in using Bliz's orginal plans anyway since they would have changed a lot before the game got released. Basic Units Demon Alcolyte Demon Spawn Demon Cutter I have no idea what any of these are. Harvesters I guess. but why three? Demon Hellcat Felhound? Why not call it a Felhound if that's what it is? Demon Burning Archer Isn't this an undead creature? Demon Rider Chaos Wolf Raider? Demon Doom Guard Demon Wraith Demon Soul Stealer Demon Death Reverent Again, aren't these undead? I'd say having undead in the legion and the scourge is redundant but it's your map. Demon Warlock Chaos Warlock I assume. Air Units Demon Drake Demon Welp Demon Dragon Hmm, the Dragons are kinda odd. If you can get possesed skins for it would work but none of the Dragon races like the Demons very much, I think even the Blacks would see them as rivals rather than potential allies. Summons Wraith Infernal Heroes Dreadlord Archimonde Azgalor Umm, Archimonde? With him as a hero no wonder they are unstopable. Also Azgalor is a Pit Fiend. What did you do about his special? Pit Fiends have Reincarnate AND Earthquake, sure it sounds fun at first but after 8th level he doesn't have anything to spend skill points on does he? I would love to help you with your project. But 10 races? What are they? I can see Demons/Chaos Orcs and Elves but that only make six and those are really only variants anyway, not whole races in their own right. |

Guest | Hehe I dont wanna divuldge to much till I have a working, semi-balanced map out. You'll see everything when its out =). I got about 3 people making suggestions on race attributes and the like. Basically every race that has enough units in the game to put together a race will be illustrated in this map. As for those of you speculating on what units are what, let me first tell you that for organization within the editor, currently every unit from a specific race has the race name infront of it. For instance, a Demon Hellcat is actually a Stayr Hellcat. Although it might be a bit much, the current races I have are: Humans/High Elves Dwarves Centuars (Inlucde Gnolls, Murlocs, Kobolds and Harpies) Forest Elves (Basically the Night Elves with Furblogs) Orcs (More less exactly like they were in WC/WC2) Trolls Taurens (Includes Taurens, Sasquatch, Wolves) Undead Demons Considering we know Demons, Trolls and Dwarves were planned races (this is held up by the return resources images in the beta MPQs), I am hoping to try to design the game as it was originally demonstrated. We'll see how it turns out. =) |

So... am I misunderstanding, or are you using models and things that never made into public versions, or are you making new ones? (Either one, a worthy endeavor!) |

Guest | finished a 5th creep race. About 20 units total and 10 "guardian" class heroes. w00t. will release the beta shortly in a few days. |

Guest | where do u get the demon race? |
| 07-21-2002, 06:40 AM | #12 |
Guest | He's just using units that were already used in the Single Player. While this could be interesting, the subpar functionality of the World Editor as concerns new abilities (unit and hero) will make all of the new races seem, well, derivative. More units that do the same thing do not make a better game. |

Guest | i was working on something similar. Plan was for 4 alternate races Corrupt Night Elves, Demons, Choas orcs, and High Elves (replace for humans) got most of the corrupt night elves pieced together. have plans for all laid out. i might release my night elf map someday |

I really the think the Chaos Orcs and Legion should be one race. The Chaos Orcs have drunk the blood of demons and are very powerful units also once the non-Orc are removed the demons are just enough to fill the remaining slots. |

Guest | basically thats what the demons consist of in my camp Demons = Demon Units in Game + Chaos Orcs + Satyr (Corrupted Night Elves) |
