i cant speak for techmpq specifically - i use winmpq, but basically to save a spell, this is what i do :

make sure your modified .slk and .txt files are in the warcraft directory, in a sub directory called /units. This means they'll show up in the editor.

make ur level in the editor, set up ur unit, whatever.

save the map

open up ur mpq prog, and load in ur map file.

select add (for winmpq) and select your modified .slk and .txt files

add them to ur .w3m file, making sure that they are in a sub directory called /units e.g. it shows up in winmpq like this:

[attributes][listfile]
units\AbilityData.slk
units\NightELfAbilityFunc.txt
units\NightElfAbilityStrings.txt
war3map.doo
war3map.j
war3map.mmp
war3map.shd
war3map.w3c
war3map.w3e
war3map.w3i
war3map.w3r
war3map.wct
war3map.wpm
war3map.wtg
war3map.wts
war3mapMap.blp
war3mapUnits.doo

save/compress ur new w3m

now, theoretically, when u open up Warcraft and load ur map, all should be working hunky-dory. One thing I've found to be important is to always close a program as you finish using it e.g when u finish with WorldEdit, close it b4 u open ur mpq program. i found if i didnt, it wouldnt save properly.
hope this helps :)

if u mean the units directory in the warcraft 3 folder, there isn't one - u have to create it. (just in a bog-standard create-new-folder-using-windows kinda way) Likewise, when u add your slk and txt files to the w3m file, u have to tell it to put them in a sub folder called units. Again, i can only speak for winmpq, but when u click add file, it asks you what sub folder (if any) u want to put them in. If Techmpq doesnt ask this, i would imagine there's an option button somewher that lets you do it. Failing that you could put ur modified files in a folder called /units and just add the folder (i'm not sure how techmpq works, so i can't promise this'll work).
