For those of you who would like to see how blizzard sets up all of their triggers or see how they use cameras etc. here's an easy way to see them in the campaign editor. NOTE - I think it's illegal to change anything in them, but just looking at them is OK. Needed - MPQ Viewer, WarCraft 3 MPQ, list(long text with all of the WarCraft 3 files) 1. Open MPQ viewer. 2. Open data file - "list" 3. Open archive "WarCraft 3.mpq 4. search for only files with ".w3m" at the end. 5. Save all files to a directory. 6. Open the maps in the World Editor. 7. Please read below. NOTE - It's illegal to change anything in the maps, but just looking at them is OK. There ya' go! Now, go make some good maps! |

Eh, changing them is fine. The only thing that ticks of blizzard in the legal department is profiting off of any changes to the game you make, any new maps you make, or any new mods you make. Furthermore it ticks them off if you directly insert content (copy and paste style) from another product (blizzard or otherwise) into War3. For example, all out copying of the 2D Marine graphics and putting them in War3. Although, blizz probably wouldn't care enough about that case, they have in the past with projects like Infoceptor's War3 SC conversion -- it shared the same name as blizzard's upcoming product and it used graphics imported from Diablo, and WarCraft2. Lesson: Don't directly copy stuff (remake it), don't name your MOD after one of blizz's upcoming games, and don't try and make any money without blizz's permission :) |
