For Those Having Trouble With IRC

Hi everyone, I noticed a decline in the number of people in our IRC channel and figured out that it was most likely to our server's new (2 days ago) requirement to be able to retrieve your Identd (pretty much something that identifies your computer) when you logon to chat. Many people with broadband internet connections have routers or networks that block the IRC server from downloading your Identd. Here are a few links to some guides that will help you configure your router to work with our IRC server again.

Linksys Routers: http://www.kareno.net/LinkSys/

Well, when I said "a few" I lied, because I couldn't think of any other popular routers that War3 players would have. If you have a router other than one made by Linksys, try searching on Google for "<your router's manufacturer> identd configuration". Good luck.

Yes, if it says "Error: server is full" you need to either turn off WIndows XP Firewall or change some settings on your router.

For those still having trouble, you may want to look in MIRC and make sure that "Enable Identd Server" is checked along with all of the other boxes in the "Identd" section. Under the "Local Info" section, clear everything and uncheck all of the boxes. Set the lookup method to Server.

I don't know how to help you any more... it could possibly be that your ISP or its supplied modem natively blocks these ports. Also, many dsl or cable modems have firewalls too, for example, MSN's DSL Modem has a firewall built in.

Skull posted this IRC server so you might want to try it, I don't know if it will solve your problem:

irc.irc-chat.net

Type /server irc.irc-chat.net in Mirc to connect.
