Guest | what is it? I keep hearing references to it and to newer updates of it, but never what the original AWE is and what it can do... |

Download and try it out... it gives more power to map makers...Like unlocking the secret units and string editing of model. |

Guest | You stumbled upon a small rant I have. Advanced WE is not really an advanced anything. Its a pack of SLK files openable in Excel that allow you to modify major datatables for the game. There are 11 SLKs used in the game that have been discovered. The most powerful thus far are unitUI.slk and unitability.slk Basically what the SLKs will do for you is enable information usage in WE by designating the path usage and attributes for a specific device (device being a sound, graphic or effect). Eventually after the MDL/MDX is compeltely understood, we'll be able to use SLK files to "import" or allow usage of graphics outside WC3. Use for reference, the WC3 engine will seek all files in the route directory before comisserating into the MPQ. In theory, if you would dump EVERY file out of the MPQ, stick it in the route directory and run it, it should run. I've personally decompressed 90% of the game and did that and it ran up till you started the physical game play. That last 10% probably was something important. *sigh* |

Guest | the name enhanched was taken, hence I couldnt use that one (which I really think it suited it very well, advanced sounds..stupid =)) also, this was created for the nonmodders out there, although it is just a matter of time before they catch up and say "its not advanced at all" =P Compared to their knowledge and for nonmodders, this is advanced for them. However, for us, I just merely think its a development tool/assistance to help balance things out What you say is right. But when its a packed exe then you would have called advanced because its not ragtagged into folders but in one exe. BUT BASICALLY it still follows the same guideline as Blackdicks editor. The main difference is that I didnt put it in a exe file, that is all. In fact, that is also with other things as they do change some stuf in data files, but STILL they are following same principle. Note that the version I release is not for modders in mind and it shouldnt be seen advanced in their eyes at all. It should be seen as a slight "Unit editing" assistance etc. Hope this clarifies alot =) maybe I should rename it to a more simpler name like World Editor Plus, or + or... you get the message...give me a good sounding name (anything but enhanced) and ill change it =) |
