Guest | I was thinking about some good ideas for maps meant to be played on battle.net; the place needs some good maps, all im seeing is snipers (getting boring), hero arena (1 overpowered hero), tower d (keep building guard towers, repetetive and ppl keep losing) and some form of RPG that hinges on the players with the heal skill and usually ends up with everyone dead. (kaggz, lotr, etc.) So, I was thinking: 1) Why doesnt someone make a "Survivor" type map? Now with the advent of 12 players, and using neutral hostiles, you could make a Survivor map with 2 tribes of 6, like the TV show. Game play would include leaving your fountain of health to hunt monsters and gain experience that could be useful for challenges, reward challenges which will give you beneficial items such as Boots of Speed, Gloves of Haste, etc, and Immunity challenges, which in the tribal stage gives you the Immunity Idol, and in the later stages, Immunity Necklace (LOL! Necklace of Spell Immunity! perfect!) 2) While were on the gameshow track, why not COMBAT MISSIONS for war3? You could have 3 teams of 4 whittled down to 2 teams, then 1, then 2 sub teams of 2, then a final fight. The game would be played by having team A go against team B, then team B against C, then team C against A. The losing team must vote to decide whether to elect to draw swords or vote each other out. Once the first 3 stages are done, a final game (cap the flag) in which when your flag is captured one of your team members die. If they all die, your entire team loses. Then, another game to eliminate one more team. The final remaining members play a couple more games to eliminate each other to one person standing. 3) Now, moving on to PC games. What about Counter Strike? Yes, I realize this has been discussed many times, but instead of the FPS thing, why not just a map in which you could load up weapons and buy different kinds of weapons and upgrades, which advantages and disadvantages. You could play missions like hostage rescue and cap flag, elimination and bomb disarming. 4) Football. Not bullcrap football. Not like SCV FOOTBALL in SC. Not even Pro Bowl (also SC). Real football; coach chooses plays and can call timeout. Orders are given depending on the plays chosen, ofcourse players who are sharing units can override these orders. QB can aim the ball somewhere and random number things determine chance to catch depending on closeness to shoot point reciever is, and distance from qb. 5) RPG's. Not shadows of evil, not lotr, etc. Even though they were good (esp for first generation), what about RPG's where it wasnt all fantasy and darklords and summon points! Look at earthbound. I want to see an RPG where it was less hack and slash, more thinking and multiple outs and constant choices. Like, living in a town or something. Like the SIMS, but without the repetetive bullshit, and a real and genuine ending. Dont forget the easter eggs, and the bang load of minigames! 6) Mario Party. Like the SC map, with better minigames, an actual BOARD, and maybe like an elimination or something, so ppl get weeded out over rounds. 7) The Olympics. Kinda like an obstacle course almost, you do olympic events or something. 8) DDR. I play this at the arcade alot. Isnt there any way using text scrolling or units moving and the keystroke thing from the sheep game i played that came with the game? I would love to play dam dariram on that. And get different heros to dance with or something, and special move buttons so you can bust it out. COOL! 9) Rainbow 6. Import the sound files and if possible the models. can yoou imagine "Tango Down!" oh yea, equipment selection. 10) Privateer-esque/TAIPAN3000 esque map. Mercenary, gets jobs from ppl, upgrading ship/thingamabob, trade around cargo, move through places. So wheres all the real Bnet maps? ps. im not currently working on a map; if anyone needs help or wants to work on a new idea or has an idea for a map but needs help give me a mail maybe we can make it together. I actually started working on a map based on Survivor. I did a little planning and tested out some triggers to see if it was feasable and I believe I could pull it off. I however don't have much resolve. I often lose interest due to my lack of ideas. I could easily get working on it again if some people want to draw me up a map or make up some challenges for me. I had it so everyone has their own leaderboard that shows their hunger, thirst and exhaustion on a scale from 1-5. If you're hungry or exhausted your speed would go down and you could carry less etc. I had empty water bottles that had to be filled at water holes etc and I had some plans on how to get food (grabbing fruit, killing shit etc). Also to encourage voting out dumbasses when your thirst hunger or exhaustion hit 5 (or maybe 0 if i decide to work it backwards) the person would pass out. Then two people from the team would have to go get them and bring that person back to camp thus screwing up what they were doing such as getting water. The person MUST be picked up and in the case of exhaustion they'd have to sit in camp for a set amount of time and thus there were less people to do errands. If that doesn't get someone's ass booted off I don't know what would. Anyone interested can do a follow up post if they want I'm game if someone else is. |

Guest | I'm definetly game. Infact, I wrote a little algorithm and game list and stuff. It can be modified to push in things like the water hole and hunger and stuff, but make sure that for Survivor, that the main part of the physical part is to gain levels and items. Ill attach the survivor algorithm thing i wrote a while ago. |

Geez, that's a lot of stuff written out. I can see how items and such would be beneficial to have but the way I was headed was more based on the getting food etc than levels. That's all they really do in the show, blab about stupid shit and go get what they need to survive. With the gathering of food and water there's more pressure on the player not to fuck up otherwise people will go hungry and pass out more. Thus those that are constantly passed out or not contributing enough get voted out by their members. Anyway, my icq is 97747870 if you want to talk about it some more, maybe we can find a compromise or whatever but I really like your mini games as they are not all the same type of thing and they aren't hard as hell/impossible to do with the triggers. Be sure to include a note if you have icq and you try to add me, odd people from all over the world are constantly trying to add me to their list without putting a reason and I don't want to immediately just dismiss your request. |

Mario Party sounds unique...I could try that. I'll have to pull out the old N64 and get the games written down :) |

Guest | or you could make your own minigames. its easier that way, and you can take advantage of tons of other things. or you can take a look at MP4 (mario party 4) and write down the mini games. |

Guest | those are really good ideas, radical . after i finish my map (almost done, by the way, any know how to make creeps respawn?) i want to make a map based on Gauntlet Legends Dark Legacy RPG, just like the game, u can use either a warrior, dwarf, valkrie, knight, sorcerer, sorceress, elf, and jester, on map, about 3 levels to go through, i can do most of that exept i dont know if your can load 3 lvs in one battlenet game(or ill just put it on this site. do you think this is a good idea? eventhough i still will make it and IF THEN ELSE if done by time, i will send it into the contest, or send into a site lol but does any know what i will do for the jester? plz dont steall my idea loser50 ps i am also gonnna do those things the narrorator say(but not the sound, just the message) like, Blue Valkyrie is about to die... Red Warrior Needs Food Badly... Destroy Generators to stop enemies... stuff like that, like idea? |

I was thinking, that if you use some of the creeps and remake the structure grafics, you could make a fith race, how ever sadly, you would not have a melee map, so only custom maps. I was also thinking that unit portraits and unit pictures could be changed, such as the peasent to look a lot different. |

Exellent! A fellow DDRer on the WC3 forums! I tried making a DDR map on StarCraft..it was kind of challenging and it was taking so long, so I stopped...Since in WarCraft 3 maps and triggers are much easier to make, I might try doing it again... |

For the legeand of zelda game those keystrokes would make it more ike a zelda game, what should also happen is the view control useing the mouse scroll should be taken out. I have been going through all the maps i downloaded to figure out the triggers, but the sheep game does give a good example of the left to right keystrokes. |

I used to play DDR a lot too. I even built my own ddr pad so I could play at home every night :P. Anyway, it's an interesting idea, but imo the fun in ddr was actually using your feet to dance to the custom music. Who knows, I've seen some very creative maps that looked plain on paper but damn fun to play. |
