sound trigger not working

Fragmentation
i enabled a trigger where i simply play music after 5 seconds elapsed in the game time

trigger went like this

event -
game elapsed time is 5 seconds

condition -
none

action -
play music : loritha06 <gen>


this just doesnt play the music
i imported the .mp3 and put it in the trigger but it wont work

i tried different events like player types a chat message nothing

any help is needed here thanks

try using Sound-StopMusic(...) before playing the new music.

Also, make sure your file is imported correctly (has nonzero duration).

one more thing

i downloaded some .mp3 to wave program but the wave file is bigger than the mp3 anyone got any convert to .wav progs to make .mp3 small enough to make any normal dl of a map sane on bnet

lol

also that sound stop thing aint help

wait i mustve been in the twilight zone there was something that was smaller than .mp3s and which allows for better dls or something man i dont usually swear but i swear there was a file format that was smaller

Only if they are the same file with different extensions. You cant say a 15kb mp3 is smaller then a 13kb wav.

just a reminder, if you imported sounds, then pushed the "test map" button, all the imported sound files will become damaged and will no longer work, you would need to reimport. Yet another reason why not to use the test map button

Yes, a completely free (the owner of the mp3 patent charges all mp3 player/compressor/etc program authors royalty fees) file format called ogg is far superior to MP3; unfortunately, mp3 is far more popular due to it's earlier development and adoption, as well as support of corporations. WC3 does not support ogg natively, as far as I know, so you are stuck with mp3s; however, I strongly suggest you get an ogg player and use ogg files instead of mp3s whenever you can to fight software patents and promote free software (which ogg is), and save disk space, too.

damn thanks for the suggestions

no i dont use the test map function i always exit editor and start up wc3 manually

sigh mp3s made a 64x 64 or so map with jus grass tiles take very long to download so long man nobody bothered to wait for 2
