Need help with Skills Icons - Tool Tip Missing :(

Hello there. I am new to creating new skills but I followed the tutorials mentioned and was able to get my skills show up in the World Editor.

Everything looks fine in the World editor but when i test the game, my skill just won't show or work... It just has the face and the "tool tip missing" icon.

I've updated my AbilityFunc.txt and AbilityStrings.txt files and also my AbilityData.slk file. What have I missed out?

Any help here greatly appreciated. Thank u...

Do you use the default loading screen ?
Do you hide the minimap on startup ?

Taht happened me in the beginning. It happens cuz u haven't put into the w3m file the files abilitydata.slk , raceabilityfunc.txt and raceabilitystrings.txt (where race stands for the reace u edited), have u? War 3 maps work as mpq files. All u got to do is mpq em with mpq2k to the war3 map file. I suggest u u make shortcut for everyfile and u put them the parameters in the properties.

If WinMPQ works for you, I'd suggest to use it, because it is much easier to use than TechMPQ or MPQ2k. Plus it has much more features. Get it at shadowflare.ancillaediting.net/dwnload.html#winmpq.

I personally think WinMPQ is the easiest to use. Check Sid67's spell editing tutorial in the map development tutorials sub-forum under developer's corner ------>Map Development.

i'm glad someone else brought that up, coz i had the same problem and i thought it was me and my stupid mistakes.

I know exactly what you mean...! I had the same problem and yesterday i finally got my first spell to work!!!!

The problem was when i put the files into my map! I did't chose any dictory!

You must have Units\ in front of all *.txt, *.slk when you input them to the map, mpq file or etc..

If not the only thing that shows is a ugly face and the spell dosent work at all!
