The Ward Against Darkness

This is a teaser I just wrote up for the single-player campaign I'm working on (slowly but surely):

--------------------------

On a remote island on the very edges of the world, deep within the earth, a dark warrior sleeps, suspended in a magical torpor by her Night Elf sisters and brothers. Held for millenia for a purpose her mind has long forgotten, she would have been their captive for eternity, lost in the annals of time.

Seemingly from nowhere, her prison is besieged by Chaos Orcs, having fled to the seas north of Kalimdor to escape the wrath of their former leader Thrall. Lead by their bloodthirsty Blademaster, the Orcs slay the Druids whose magicks held the warrior captive. The warrior, named Elibeth so long ago, awakens in unfamiliar surroundings, unable to remember anything about her past.

Suddenly caught between the fierce, bloodlusted Orcs and her mysterious Druidic jailers and their Sentinel Guard, Elibeth must fight to escape their clutches and find out the truth about her past.

But who can she trust to help her find what she needs? Where will she turn to find the answers?

-------------------------------------------

This campaign will focus on the central character Elibeth, and a multitude of other heroes, and will feature a branching path system, allowing the player to choose what path is best for Elibeth, with different results and consequences for every decision made.

I'm also planning full voice acting and perhaps custom music, as well as extensive use of cinematics to reveal Elibeth's past.

Does this sound interesting to you guys? Has anyone done anything like this before?

one problem why would the orcs betray thrall, thrall is the good guy. most people want the orcs to be bad but they really arn't.

You're preaching to the choir there buddy.

I'm a firm believer in the "no evil races, just evil people" philosophy, and I've been a greenskin fanatic since WCI.

BUT...

*****SPOILER*****

...the Orcs DO betray Thrall. The Warsong, lead by Grom Hellscream, drink from the blood of Mannoroth again and become possessed by their old demonic bloodlust. Then Thrall must destroy them to get to Grom. (Something like Mission 8 or 9 of the Orc Campaign.)

These particular Chaos Orcs managed to escape destruction at the combined arms of Thrall and Jaina into the seas to the north of Kalimdor.

well ya of course it like in world war or any war its the same way, but in wc3 the orcs made a pact with the humans so they would both be good, the bad guys to them would be the undead, not the orcs or humans.

This sounds good and pretty original. :)
Not too inconsistent (We know some orcs prefer the blood lust, as the Blackrock clan showed).

Are you -promising- voice actors and cinematics though? Are you 100% certain you could get them?

Well, I'm basically doing ALL the world editing myself, so the cinematics I promise. (EDIT: It suddenly occurs to me that there may be some confusion, in that I meant in-game cinematics, not FMVs... :/ )

And as far as voice acting, I've actually recruited my friends. (I know that sounds half-assed but bear with me.) I don't know exactly how well they'll do, since this'd be the first voice acting they've done, but they do come from an acting and/or roleplaying background, so I have faith in their skill. One of them is a musician as well, and owns a wealth of professional recording equipment. (I'm huge on sound quality.)

All in all, since I'm doing this all by myself essentially, it may take some time unless I get assistance, but I expect this jewel to really shine when it's finished.

I've got a good voice recording tutorial (basically how to use Goldwave) if you want it. The Star Alliance's database is down, but I could mail or upload it somewhere if you want.

Oh, you could always try SAVAGE out if you think it's good enough.
